House Renovation Pics

Thought I started a thread on this but I couldn't find it. Bought a house back in July in foreclosure for $72.5k. Spend about 25k on renovations, primarily on repairs due to abuse and neglect from previous tenants.

Roof was redone and the yard had to be regraded so we had to rip up the driveway. Ended up replacing it with one that could accommodate a second car.

There was wood flooring in a lot of the house but it was water damaged in the kitchen due to a leaking dishwasher so we used this as an opportunity to upgrade the whole house (minus the bedrooms) with tile. Also put in all new appliances.

Contractor did most of the work, but my wife and I patched drywall and repainted the whole house ourselves. If I had to do it again though I would have just let the contractor do it. It would have been worth the $2500 he was going to charge.

Also if anyone remembers the thread I posted asking about what house I should buy (this thread) it was House A that we bought.

And another thread trying to figure out what to do with the kitchen (here), I ended up raising the cabinets by 3" and replaced the backsplash with stick on tiles.

Took about a month. Had to do a rush job on the paint because we had to move in ASAP since our rent was up. Some things weren't even finished when we moved in.

There is still a lot of touch ups that need to be done, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. It's a lot harder to paint once furniture and carpet is in the house. :\

We get a lot of air potato vines down here in g'ville. They can take over quickly.

I think they are kudzu. I've spent a lot of time cutting the base of the vines on the trees to kill them. When we first moved in there were vines running all over the back yard. I think I've killed most of them.

It was the wife's idea. Though, the colors don't look exactly like they did on the pallet. I'm too exhausted to repaint everything though.

It's different thats for sure, it certainly makes a house a home when you have stuff like that though.

Nice, always rewarding to get some work done on a house. Reminds me when I moved into my current (and first) house a few years back. Spent a good couple of months renovating. I had a contractor though. I kinda wanted to tackle stuff on my own, but I knew it would just take too long as I'd be learning as I go. I only did some of the more basic stuff like electrical since I already knew how. I will do the whole basement myself at my own leisure once I have the money though.
