2 more days, then Trump the Twice Impeached Traitor is going to jerk it in public over how courageous he was exactly one year ago. Please let him go off script.

Also:

Fortunately, Trump's ego can't handle that the Jan. 6 committee is shortly going to public hearings.

AG Garland making public statement now. Sounds pretty strong while not getting into any specific cases. Let's see the follow-up

"We will hold all accountable at every level"

Very strong statement on the erosion of voting rights by Republicans (he didn't mention Republicans but we all know)
He asked for help from Congress in buttressing up that part of the VRA eroded by the Shelby case. Are you listening MANCHIN and SYNEMA????

He's got 3 years left, which isn't a lot in legal time. The higher up you go, the more able they are to appeal...he needs to get that ball rolling right meow.

^^ Balderdash.

If the 'Pukes take over (as some expect), you're likely to see a slew of laws thwarting investigations and limiting powers. They could even go after him directly. You may even see efforts to undo past convictions or grant immunity to the 'patriots'.

They can't make laws without the WH or 67% of the Senate.

No law like that would pass. Biden will veto and not enough to override.

^^^ Who says they won't have that? If they put Peachy in as Speaker and Moscow Mitch regains his throne, look out. The gloves are off.

Joe could be booted by Tax Day '22 and Harris won't be far behind. Guess who will be VP at least?

They need 67% of Senate to boot Biden. At that point they can just override the veto. Regardless, they ain't getting 67% of the Senate. Not even sure if it's possible in 22 even if they swept the Senate races.

EDIT: it's not. 14 dem seats up for grabs in 22 so max is 64

Moscow Mitch will force whatever rule change he feels is needed. Not like he hasn't done it before.
Can't argue that one. Not sure even Mitch would go so far as only need a majority to remove a President on impeachment and removal. That would be like Stevie Wonder trying to defuse a nuke

I'm glad he said nothing specific. This is the way the DOJ is supposed to be run.

If they get to the point where they can manipulate outcome in state elections, what stops them from passing a new amendment?

The article's observations about the political right are too obvious for this forum. But I would highlight the below passage about the left.

In a nutshell: it says the establishment left has too much faith in institutions, and the woke left is too divisive. It is correct on both counts.

You're doing the same things here in this thread. You're putting your faith in an institution that may not exist in the present form a year and a half from now.

Frankly, I have no idea why Hillary Clinton ever agreed to meet or partake in that republican controlled Benghazi committee hearing? Why did she not simply refuse to show up, like Trump republicans are now refusing to do with the Jan 6th committee?
For one, Hillary had nothing to hide, and Hillary was not at fault. Yet, here we have an out right government overthrow attempt by MANY Trump associates and MANY Trump administration officials, and they just refuse when summoned.
I only wish that Hillary had not shown up when she was ambushed by the republicans, but as we know... democrats always believe in the system and in the process where as republicans just thump their nose at it all.

I don't know of you'd call it a double standard, or what? But I do know that democrats have to get mad dog mean and send those subpoena dodgers straight to F-ing jail. And I mean asap, within days of their refusal. Why is that not happening?

If only there was some reason...

For one, Hillary had nothing to hide, and Hillary was not at fault.

Oh, right. That is it.
That is why she attended. Otherwise she would not have. She could answer their questions without having to constantly say 'I don't remember', plead the 5th, or perjure herself. Answering their questions could only help her. They were accusing her of it already, the best course of action was to defend herself.
And overall it worked, most people know that the Benghazi hearing was a joke. Even my Republican family agrees that the whole thing was blown out of proportion, and they believe that Hillary is Satan Incarnate that runs a pedophile pizza parlor when not campaigning for President.

Well, republicans have won...by the time all the legal mumble-jumble is started and finished the midterms will be here and gone. The Founding Fathers sure did a lousy job of not anticipating an insurrection coming from the inside of government and not making fast track legal means to deal with it.
