House of Flying Daggers

JEDI

Lifer
1st half wasnt bad.

the ending was corny and stupid. she's dead. no, she's alive. no, she's dead. no she's alive.

plus when the 2 main guys are fighting, the seasons turn from fall to dead of winter, complete with blizzard???

and the whole plot twist in the 2nd hald shredded the plot in the 1st half.

Hero > House of Flying Daggers

Whats Your view?

While they were filming, the weather actually did change in one day. The director was mortified at first, but decided to continue filming anyway and ended up liking the change.

Isn't changing the direction of the story the point of a plot twist?
Of course, I'm biased because

i liked it. i watch it whenever it comes on cable, and my kids actually liked it. the first time ive seen 3 kids under 12 sit thru a subtitled movie. they even bought it for me.

i have very low expectations for movies, so its easier for me to like things with a few flaws.

I don't mind the plot with plot. Make it interesting. BTW, i don't remember if she died or not. 🙁 Another thing, I assumed the main rebel camp got wipe out right? They never show it in the move - just some flash scenes that solders got the place surrounded.

While not the best movie, it makes incredible use of the surround channels and subwoofer. Excellent demo movie, IMHO.

And yes, if you watch the extras on the DVD, you'll see that the weather actually did change like that in the course of a day. Its not like Hero where they were supposed to fight for several seasons.

But Curse had cleavage!! 😛

Daggers was on cable last night. Dubbed. Ugh. Reminded of those Saturday afternoon Kung Fu cinema voiceovers. But if you turn the volume down and just look at the cinematography, it truly is a visually stunning movie.

Possibly the truest post that could have been made on the topic.

It had me screaming "OH GOD DIE ALREADY". You shouldn't get three or four "last words" scenes.

Originally when I saw it, the ending became completely unbelivable.

Second time last night re-enforced my opinion.

What about Iron Monkey? While it doesn't have the beautiful scenery and cinematography of Hero, CTHD or Daggers, the fighting is great and the movie has a decent plot.

I loved the movies I just mentioned. I thought Flower was gonna rock. It was THE WORST "karate movie" ever. Mainly b/c everyone thinks it's a "karate movie" and it's not at all! Waste of $20.
