Yes, and with a bad plot and bad acting.

Visually beautiful, but the story was abysmal. Just when I was hoping it was over, it kept going. Then, it ended when I expected it to keep going. Imagine the worst overly dramatic aspects of a Bollywood movie with wire-fu.

its ok, but you should only watch forign flicks with subs, not dubs, dubs loose to much of the translation because they can't fit as much in, or translate it to properly fit.

its an ok movie too, its worth seeing.

woah i disagree with many people in this thread.

I thought HERO was absolute GARBAGE. the previews made this movie look to be SO different than it was, I was so disappointed with that movie that I wish I never wasted my time watching it. It just was hideous.

House of Flying Daggers was 100x better than Hero. I really enjoyed that movie. The martial arts and just everything about HOFD was better than Hero. It also has some twists in it. I thought the cinematography was outstanding too. The final scene in the movie is one of those scenes you can watch over and over.

House of Flying Daggers > Crouching Tiger > * > Hero

I'm pretty sure there was no wire work in house of flying daggers.

It was a pretty good movie. Overly dramatic at times, but that's how some asian movies are. The story is pretty darn good. If they just re-edited it for an american audience, it would be more widely accepted.

Wire work is the same. Americans didn't grow up with the concept of kungfu and people being able to run on top of grass (running on the top of fields of grass) being able to leap over buildings in single bounds, and stuff like that. The wire work kungfu that you see is there because it fits romantic stereotypes of the days of yore where kungfu heroes could do spectacular things because they were so highly skilled. There was plenty of wire work in the matrix series, but you never heard complaints about it because the way it was done, it better fit what americans view as normal.

so... wire work, over-sappy, whatever, if you can accept them as cultural differences, you can better appreciate asian movies.

Agreed. Wire-fu was distracting in all of them, but the only one with a well-written story was CTHD.

It is an ok movie. What I would like if it expanse the scope of the movie a little bit more. They just focus on the main characters make me wonder what happen to the other events hinted in the movie.
