House MD tonight (4/12/10) [Directed by House himself]

Why would this excite you? If I told you the flight attendent will be flying the plane, would you think that was a good thing?

Who said this excites me? It's mildly amusing as I'm a fan of the show, same as whatever stupid shit you're interested in.

Eh. I assumed this post was made just because it was Laurie directing. If it was not, and was just an episode thread, then I misunderstood it.

Anyway, my point was really about how actors seem to love to try directing. Most of them suck at it. It's as bad with writing. There are about 4 Stargate SG-1 episodes I couldn't bear to watch (after the first season, of course). I just found out they were the 4 episodes written by Christopher Judge, who plays Teal'c. It's the Peter Principle.

Most people in television are trained to do a bit of everything these days. At least that's how I've been taught to work in that industry. It's not a big stretch.

I didn't hate those episodes when I first watched them, but I have never had any inclination to watch repeats.
 
Tonight's House was great. The show has been on for a while, but it's one of the few of its age (~ 6 yrs) right now that I think is truly getting better and better.

Most episodes have a little bit of replay value, too, which is tough to find outside of sitcoms and such.

The Cannon 5D Mk II is probably one of the most impressive video cameras I've seen. Even outshoots $20,000 professional camcorders in some cases. That 35mm CMOS really makes all the difference. Problem is the sensor tends to overheat on these things. As close to reality as you can get with 1080p video. I wonder what editing must be like for these things since they record in H.264. Final Cut always wants me to render the video when I drop that format into the timeline. A pain in the ass.
 
Haven't watched it yet, but I read a little preview early today. Sounds good, I really like the unusual episodes (the hostage and airplane episodes come to mind).

Now that he understands how she felt...maybe he'll stop being a whiny baby on the show now. If it does continue, i 2nd the movement to kill him off.
 
Hm, I thought it was a terrible episode. Laurie's directing style is way too in-your-face - I hate being so accutely aware of the "tricks" intending to sublty set the mood in a scene. An example is the vignette while Taube (sp?) and Foreman were in the basement - it was so obvious that it annoyed me. Granted this isn't the only time this has been the case in House (the entire episode where Kutner killed himself was shot about 1/2 a stop underexposed which annoyed the shit out of me).

Overall a disappointing episode to cap off an incredible season.

anyways its about the cast, cinematographer and the script writers mostly. director just is the manager.
look at Lucas and Spielberg and their bevy of total sh*t disasters lately. my guess is new directors are given less control, and so more kept in check. george lucas and spielberg control every last aspect of their f*ck disasters now that they've gotten to big to argue with.
 
Chase really annoyed me this episode, and I realized that his character sucks and I wish he would leave for good. Something about this episode brought out some hate for him. Maybe it was his "acting" with his former IRL fiance, doing the whole divorce + sex thing could have just it hit too close to home and it finally had a serious effect on his performance. It was bad. Nails on chalkboard bad.
 
i liked the episode. wish i had dvr'd it instead of watching it live though. it seemed like a shorter than normal length and we had commercials every 8 minutes or so.

What about the episodes by the rest of the cast?
Judge wasn't the only one to take on roles outside acting.
