WASHINGTON — In what has become a familiar problem for House Republicans, leaders scrapped a planned vote Thursday afternoon on controversial immigration legislation after it became clear they did not have the support of their own party to pass it.

House Republicans were scheduled to meet privately later today to see if they could salvage the legislation.

In a joint statement, GOP leaders said they would continue to work toward a solution to the flood of unaccompanied children detained at the U.S./Mexico border and put the onus on President Obama to act on his own.
These people just can't seem to get out of their own way, but they want more power in November.

Unfortunately the blame game will work on some of the potential voters in the upcoming elections; the truth and facts of this and other situations are quashed in order to manipulate the voting results.

Bhoener needs to go, the guy is way out of his league. He will go down as the worst house speaker in history and that is something he can cry about.

God, I hope worthless immigrant lover, Cruz, gets primaried from the right, those illegals need to be sent packing. Somebody needs to stand in the Senate and read Alice in Wonderland. If Moonbean gets wind of this he's going to start calling us brain-fucked rather than just defective.

The outrage is seeping through my nipples.

Harry Reid was on the edge of his seat wondering if the GOP led house would pass a bill so he could sign off on in ASAP. Well, they blew it.

Thanks Boehner.

Seems as if the Repubs in Congress have the "perfect conundrum" to deal with within their own party: Their base wants illegals out of the country to keep America "American", yet the big monied interests who own that party want to keep the borders wide open to exploit all of that cheap labor pouring over on our side.

Small wonder they're having gridlock on their side of the aisle irt immigration issues.

edit - This is a really tender weak spot that the Dems are going to exploit for years to come.

Sad thing is that the American people are probably not paying attention to any if this.
And will also turn the senate into the house come November.
Then wonder what the hell happened when the country goes to belly up.
Stocks crash due to government shutdowns.
Unemployment once again sky rockets.
We are about to become the most ignorant nation in history.
And the voters will blame obamacare.

yea this is just beyond astounding that Boehner brings to the floor a lawsuit to sue this president for using the Executive powers, then turns around and tells him to do just that in his interview with the press with regard to this border issue. /shakes head

Clearly, the president should only use his powers when the house gives him permission.

I can't figure out why Boehner allows this crap to happen. I know he wants to legislate, why can't he play hard ball and start pulling difficult members from committees and basically tell Ted Cruz to f off.
I understand the strategy force Obama to make the unpopular decision. This is the crux of our problems every elected official avoids difficult decisions because they're too risky.

Hence the reason he shouldn't be making decisions to begin with.

Among others.

I must say though, that I rather like it when conservatives, in an effort to shoot themselves in the foot, shoot themselves in the ass instead.

Maybe if Obama did not make the choice to ignore immigration laws, he would have a bill by now.

But we all know the law means little to Obama. He'll ignore parts he doesn't like, and only enforce parts he does.

Any bill that allows bought border security and amnesty and gets passed by congress, will only have amnesty actually executed by the dictator in chief.
