Hey, she's 73 years old. You just can't expect pearls of wisdom to come out of the mouth of an old white woman.

This is so laughable. How can people listen to what she says and think that it is anything but an outrageous lie.

Democrats are middle/right, to the right of the conservative parties of every other 1st world country.

We could start by gutting the military by 3/4, but the Republicans won't touch it.

QFT. The military doesn't protect the nation, but rather the offshore interests of American Capitalists. There was a time when those interests and those of the people were congruent, but that time is really past.

I think the NSA's budget could be cut by quite a bit.

I bet all the black budget stuff that is off the books (wink wink nod nod) is never even touched by any budgetary shortfalls. The spy agencies budgets are often black budget programs, so even the GAO can't properly track the expenditures because it's deemed so secret and stuff. I bet all the spy agencies combined total budgets are rapidly approaching the military budgets if we could get a real accounting of where all the missing billions are being funneled off to.

Ugh I hate these people making these comments. We will never be able to get shit done if this is the comments that are made.

The military could take huge cuts, such as stop making things the military doesn't want, along with shit that will never be used.

But we need more tanks to sit in the desert with the 3000 others we already have because we might have to fight Africa.

The ROTW is fantasy land?

Only in the fevered minds of the American Right, who firmly believe that day is night, if Rush said so.

How about instead of troll troll trolling your boat, you actually discuss the topic of this thread and whether Nancy is correct in that "the cupboard is bare."

Clearly false. I would vote to defund PRISM to start and let's cancel the new NSA datacenter.

Sometimes it really feels like our elected leaders are trolling us. I can picture a bunch of them watching that and laughing at how stupid the American people are.

It's amazing that just 5 years ago our government ran on $2.7 Trillion. 2013 is going to cost us almost $3.7 Trillion.

I suppose it's an issue of perspective. HOR Repubs weren't shy about raising farm subsidies even as they hack foodstamps. I suppose that agribusiness needs more subsidies since they'll be selling less food, right?

They obviously haven't tried to cut the budget of the military or the NSA, have they? Of course not.

What it amounts to is that Pelosi said there's nothing more that the parties can agree to cut, and she's right about that.

So, uhh, let's see if the Teahadists have the grapes to shut down the govt, damage the full faith & credit of the US, and who'll come out on top if they do. Everybody's all in, so it's time to call.

Whaddaya got? Ya got a gerrymandered majority who actually received a minority of votes in one house of the legislature trying to dictate terms to everybody else. I doubt it will end well for them.

That is NOT what Pelosi said and you know it.

Are you forgetting 2010 election with 44 million votes for GOP vs 38 million votes for Dems? A 46.9% vs 48.3% 2012 election is supposed to reverse the 63 seats they picked up 2 years earlier?

The last poll that I saw (Friday) said that 55% would blame the GOP while 33% would blame Obama (didn't list the other 12%). Take it for what it's worth.

Here's the thing, though.

The spending programs are largely unchanged.

The increase in spending comes from existing programs being strained due to 1/7th of the country being on food stamps, and massive unemployment that our government refuses to fix or even take steps toward fixing because it will hurt the bottom lines of the corporations that bankroll their campaigns and keep them in office.

Funny how these guys have to distance themselves from democrats like Pelosi and attempt to disown her when they were responsible for voting dem's like her into office for decades like good little collectivist drones.
