Ok, I found somewhere that the response time on the 1800FP is 30 milliseconds. I've heard that anything under 25 is good. Does this mean the 1800FP is bad?

Damn... I bought a 1900FP 2 weeks ago. I have to get use to it (switched from a NEC FE950 CRT). As for ghosting, if it gets bad I guess I could go dual with the CRT. Anyone else have experience with dual monitors?

By all means, try it. What have you got to loose. It worked for me, I saved $15.

How does the image brightness compare between the 18" and the 19" Ultrasharp Dell models...

18" contrast ratio = 350:1
19" contrast ratio = 500:1

Image Brightness is the same for both models at 250 CD/m2 typical

I've heard great things about the samsung lcd ( the 19" dell ). Wondering how the 18" compares in quality.

I already have one 15" black lcd and i think that another black lcd would look better next to it.. anyone put the 1900 next to a black lcd before?

I can't even see the bezel, its so bright it looks like the picture is floating in space....no joke :) I tend to have lower light in my room though. The higher the contrast ratio, the better it is I'm thinking, particularly for the dark/grey level ghosting people complain about. I think thats why the 1900FP doesn't ghost as bad as some of the other LCDs (especially older ones).

As for the ability to swivel, you can tilt the monitor up and down and left to right. You cannot however, "swivel" the picture from portrait to landscape and vice versa (you can with the Samsung). Its the same panel, just a different base. If you really wanted to, you could get the base from a Samsung and attach your Dell to it. (its just 4 screws and the Dell manual tells you how to un-attach it).

I opted for a Planar 19-in instead of the Dell. I couldn't see much advantage going with the Dell and the Planar has the 3-yr warranty plus speakers/USB hubs. It seems the Dell is more sleek looking than Planar, but their specs look almost identical. Since the two has over $100 difference in price, I must've missed something important. :( Anyone cares to share some insight?

If youre really into getting the 1900FP then read the posts on the ars technica forum about it here

Max188 observed some nasty ghosting with the 1900FP on some games (NOLF2 and BF1942 in particular). He devised a video to determine the ghosting based on colors and the 1900FP had horrible gray scale ghosting. His pictures of NOLF2 on page 58 are ample proof. I would take his reccomendations for the 1800FP or the 2000FP which display significantly better ghosting.

Anyone looking for a 17" monitor should consider the Hitachi cml174 for $620 shipped after coupon here
