HOTTER: $150 for opening a CitiBank Account (IMPROVED from first post)

I went to the site, and click on payment and transfers and you can check if the check you sent has been cashed or not, I clicked on past payments and it shows all the payments made the name of the payee the amount and the status of the payment, the status for my payments shows open, when cashed the status will changed to cleared, and if not cashed within a certain time frame, it will be deposited back to your account.

I think I'll end up keeping this account, In NY you have branches on every other block, and bill pay is free, my other bank charges $5.00 a month.

Same here, I really like this account. I like how you can set the payment date for future payments. When I get a bill, I go online, set a payment for TWO days prior to it being due and forget about it. Save time, collect interest in another account, and eliminate potential late fees. I have changed my Direct deposit to this account and dumping my WaMU account. Citi is opening branches that are very convienent to me. Try it guys, you'll like it.

If you have an ING account, you can easily link it to this account. Works great.

How did you link your ING account?
I went to the ING website and it said:

To add a new external account link, please send us a personal check (for at least $1.00) made out to yourself, and drawn against the new account you want linked. Note that the account you would like to link must be a checking account, not a brokerage or money market account (institutions put restrictions on these types of accounts that prevent electronic transfers). The name on the check must exactly match the name on your ING DIRECT account.

I'm wating for my checks to get here, did you receive your checks?, the welcome kit said 10 free checks a month.

I also want to link my Paypal account, which requires that you give the routing number from the checks.

I used the above instructions, I had my checks already. ING is a little slow in giving you access to the cash when it is in their hands, but this is not a problem since I use ING as a savings account.

FYI, Citi charges $1 to put the check in with the mailed statement. Call them and let them know that you just want online access. The online access to checks is pretty cool, the check # in your ledger is a link, click the link and a scan of the check appears on the screen.

I watched this deal a while.

Citi gave me another deal: 5% cash back for six month. then 1% cash back. up to $300 cash back a year. For me, it's better than $150 open an account.
call 1-800-813-4712 if interested.

more details please..

This sounds more like a credit card offer.

I just called to apply. Be VERY sure to tell them that you don't want ANY calls other than calls about problems with your account. He tried to slip it on me 3 times, the third without even asking me if I wanted phone calls about special offers. Seems like you're not getting this $150 for free. They want to market you, share you, demographic you, and check on you by phone.

I finally said that if I get a single phone call other than one relating to a problem with my account then I will cancel immediately. I felt as if I was applying for credit as they want to run a credit check, have my mother's maiden name, my employer, how long I have been living at my address.....I have a feeling I may regret the free $150.

I have not been getting a single call from them about anything... i also feel like i might not be getting my 150... there was never any reminder about it after the day i signed up online... anybody has surpassed the '90' days waiting period just recently or got their payment recently?

Same here. Still waiting for the money. Never received a call from them. Did the bill payment about 2 months back. Isnt the waiting period 40 days? I'll wait a week or so and call to ask.

Did anyone notice the letter in the packet you got saying there's a 20-day window from the day you submit the app to do this transaction? If the deal isn't done by then, quote "your application will expire and no further action will be taken." I submitted my app nearly a month ago and today I noticed the 20-day thing. So I called citibank. Sally said everything should be ok. Said they would be giving me a courtesy call (huh?) later as another of their requirements. Mailed $1600 dep & signature sheet today. We'll see.

time for u guys to start asking to speak to the managers and start pressing the issue..
I have my paper clearly stating the terms on new account including $150 bonus..
can scan if needed.

It seems like Citibank is offering the $150 for $1500 offer if you linked a new checking account to your Citicard credit card account.

that doesnt make much sense...

Why wouldn't it? I think they want you to have the credit card for overdraft protection so they can make interest off you and you don't need to do bill payments since the only thing needed is $1500 for 90 days.

The exact details...
