I signed up for the $100 deal yesterday. Wonder what the chances are that I can get them to change my offer. I guess that I can open another account, but don't have that much cash lying around.

i am using the CGA code.
I am at step 5 "sign and send".
I still don't see anything regarding the $150.
That's no way I will get shafted right?

None of us saw anything regarding the details of the $150 offer. The only thing I saw was that my application was using code "CGA." If you want to make certain the "CGA" offer you've signed up for is indeed $1500/$150, I suppose you can call the "APPLY BY PHONE" number (1-800-374-9700) and ask. :) I may do so during business hours.

*EDIT* I called the aformentioned 800#, and the department we need to speak w/ is closed right now.
I did manage to obtain a better 800# to call though: 1-800-321-2484, option 1.

The "account status" department's business hours are:
M-F 6am - Midnight CST
Sat 8am - 10pm CST
Sun 8am - 4:30pm CST

How do you sign up? The last link (provided by JOnBrown is just to a pop up ad...I couldn't get anywhere from there).

The account bears no interests.

No interest?! That stinks.

Btw, their pop-up says "Competitive Rates".

What are they referring to?

10% in 60 days is great interest, show me another place that you can safely get that.

Popular indeed! What do you expect when you're being handed $150 for very little effort? :D

Ok, I called up the "Account Status" department and found out the following:

1) They won't acutally have the application in their system to review until 2-3 business days.

2) The CSR I spoke w/ wasn't certain at first whether the bonus would be $100 or $150. She put me on hold for a few minutes, and upon return stated that it is indeed $150.

3) We will be receiving a WELCOME KIT in the mail within 7-10 business days. Among other things, the WELCOME KIT is supposed to list (IN WRITING) the terms of the promotion we signed up for.

4) Upon receipt of the WELCOME KIT, your new Citibank account is apparently not yet open. The CSR told me that Citibank will call you after they've processed your application. Once you receive that call, your account will be open 24 hours later. Hopefully you'll receive this call AFTER you've received your welcome kit. Why? Before your account is actually "open," you can cancel the entire process and get your money back with no penalties.

In other words, if the WRITTEN TERMS of the promotion in your welcome kit DO NOT MATCH the TERMS OF THE CGA PROMOTION, cancel your account and get your $$$ back, PERIOD.

Hopefully the above should alleviate some concerns. If somebody else could call and conduct the same verification, that'll further legitimize the claims given to me.

P.S. The CSR gave me an additional phone # to use when calling Citibank: 1-800-745-1534, option 1

Oh yea... say you are UNEMPLOYED or SELF-EMPLOYED!

cuts down the verification process (which is very picky and thorough)

Thankyou for the research diggler!

Yes, I did find the best one out there I think =p (feel free to find a better one and post it!)

You are applying for offer code: CGA

Get $150 when you open and fund a Regular Checking account with Citibank® EZ Checking with $1,500 and pay two bills online.

For those of you wondering about the intrusiveness of the signup process, it's now standard at all banks on all new accounts (thanks to one of the new Federal anti-moneylaundering/anti-terrorism laws). However, the regulations are not explicit on what the banks can do with the info, so unless you want to receive very highly targeted marketing you should probably call an account rep and request that your info not be used for any marketing purposes. Note that they will (usually) refuse to do this during account creation, so you must request it once the account is open.

The on-line application process for this offer allowed you to OPT OUT of such offers.

Yes, it did allow one to opt out! :)

ALSO, here are the codes I have dug up:

CC22 --- $100 (1500 deposit)
CC41 --- $100 (1500 deposit)
CC32 --- $100 (1500 deposit)

CP56 --- $100 (1500 deposit) -- REGULAR CHECKING

CK27 --- $75 (1500 deposit)

GC44 --- $150 (2500 deposit)

CGA --- $150 (1500 deposit)
CGB --- $150 (1500 deposit)
CGC --- $150 (1500 deposit)
CGE --- $150 (1500 deposit)
CGF --- $150 (1500 deposit)

*if you want to try searching for other codes, you only have to enter information once... go all the way to the end, then backpedal until it gets you back to the original screen... the best way I found to go about it is to click the $75 offer at www.citibank.com and then simply change the codes in that box... if the code you enter does NOT work, BACKSPACE (or it will continue to fail good codes) and input a different code :)*

Got a question. I noticed they said this deal is not for current citibank banking customers. Are you still a customer if you closed your accounts?

I don't think so, after you close your acct. i am pretty sure they don't consider you one of their custoers

Why you thinking of opening, then closing, then open again for an extra $150 ?? :p

I wonder if I can also get in on this deal... In the application do you have to be a resident of US to open this account? I'm in Canada, but I have a US Mail box...

I have a couple of CAN$$ to blow... It is doing better these days!

What are the real advantages of "online" banking (checking in this case) anyway? Especially if there is no interest, isn't it a pain to not have a branch you can visit?

Well, I can think of 150 decent reasons. Think of it as a 60 day CD. Where else are you going to get that interest. Cancel if you don't like it, keep it if you do.

I believe your accounts have to be closed for at least 90 days before you can qualify as a "new customer" to be eligible for this offer.

Is there a limit on how many household members can participate? For example, can a husband and a wife get in separately on this deal? Kids?
