Bingo. After what AOL has already done to Winamp, it wouldn't surprise me to see AOL firing the free interns all the same.😛

I'd probably take it if I lived in the city and didn't have a job and was fresh out of college. I know many friends in that situation at the moment.

cant belive its actually a no pay job, my guess is that they are seeing who realy wants to work with them, someone young, someone talanted and then offer them some money

meh not really.. there are a bunch of unpaid internships offered out there. I'd do it if it wasn't in san francisco. It costs about $10 daily to commute there from where live. If it paid $20 a day I'd consider it.

no way you can afford to live in SF long if you are unemployed (or working for free).

A willingness to work for little to no reward at all (ok fine, it will look great on a resume)

They already answered the question.

In honesty, with so many little kids being able to code circles around some college students, they probably want time to see what they have on their hands in terms of skill and work ethic before they offer a paid position.
Any decent software company would know the names nullsoft and winamp and be able to recognize that doing work for them and having them as a reference means you stand out from the majority.

But, you're NOT working for the Nullsoft of old. You're working for AOL Time Warner! Many of the talented programmers bailed since company was bought out, so much of the mystique of having Nullsoft on your resume is gone now. Plus, you get to put up with a bunch of bureaucratic BS that comes with working for a bloated and inefficient mega-corporation.

Honestly, I think that a young software developer who's still in college would be better off either getting a paid internship or doing freelance work on their own. At least they have a chance of making some money while they're practicing their skills.

well there was a time when joining Nullsoft would have been the shiz...but at this point the grip of AOL Time Warner is strong on the Nullsoft.

Still...they did go rogue and release Gnutella once...so there's still SOME spunk left at Nullsoft...some...

Although I don't really see being a Nullsoft webmaster as a decent thing to put on your resume unless you actually want to be a webmaster...it's not like they're hiring you to be a programmer or nothing.
