Dunjon, you're right about the poor rebate service from TCA Fulfillment Services in New Rochelle. I sent in a $50 Linksys rebate back in October and am still talking with CompUSA about it. My efforts to get in touch with TCA have been futile. What a joke that operation is and I've let CompUSA know about it.

imho that's a hot deal on that panasonic dvd-r/ram drive...if you're gonna be using it to "back up" movies though, i'd have to say get a dvd-rw drive (look into the pioneer a03), because as someone mentioned you have to strip menus, languages, etc...and even then, sometimes (not often once you get the hang of it) the discs won't playback properly...

I haven't messed around with movies in a while, but when I tried backing up my personal copy of 6th sense I had lots of problems because it had multiple angles (though I believe the latest version of ifoedit has most problems fixed)

still, rumor is pioneer's releasing the a04 in the near future (4x dvd write), so i'm sure the a03's will drop to maybe this price without the need of rebates.

????

I just went to CompUSA today and yesterday, but there were no such sales going on. I went to three different one's, and two of them didn't even know anything about any sales when I asked a sales rep about "Aniversary sales.

Am I missing something or is it not aniversary weekend for all compusa's in Atlanta?

Typically, when people talk about weekend sales...they mean starting on Sunday, unless they specifically say otherwise.

I need a capture drive. Should I go with 80GB 5400rpm or 60GB 7200RPM for $99 AR? Better deal elsewhere? I screwed myself out of the Best Buy-Staples pricematch - $30 rebate, - $20 gc deal today (doh) and still need a big drive good enough to capture.

By the way, the Plexwrite 40x12x40a is offically in stock @ CompUSA for $179.99, just got one for myself. Yes, yes its not very cheap but heck 40x!!

And also if you are in the market for a powerful laptop, toshiba is coming out a p4 laptop very soon, prob with in the next week or two. The laptop will using a desktop processor but shouldn't affect too much of battery performance.

I must be the only exception in the universe, as I have received all of my rebates thru New Rochelle, NY in a timely manner. Must help that I live in NY? ;)

In case you missed this item: 286396 Sprint Long Distance Phone card free after rebate $6.75-$2.75ir-$4mir (45 min).

I get as many free phone cards as I can and give them to my children, so that they always have a way to call.
