Hotspot Shield Alternative

HotSpot Shield is probably the best free stuff you can get. Witopia's actually not all that expensive, and reliable too.

Doesn't allow me to use Hulu 🙁

Sometimes you have to cut your losses and pay up. Witopia's PPTP service only costs $40 a year, and you can configure it on as many machines/iPods/iPhone as you want, as long as only one is online at a time.

Interesting i've never heard of these ones before - http://hotspotshield.com/

Does it work well?

I'd be concerned that they could sell the results of their own datamining. Remember that essentially they're at one end of the ssl connection, so they'll see decrypted traffic for the session.

Of course, if you're logged in and do some kind of online shopping, a new ssl session will be established between the client and the server, but even still, they're positioning themselves to be a perfect "man in the middle".
