I didn't get the impression that this was a video BIOS infection... nearly all modern video card BIOSes are signed.

Rather, it seemed as though the resident viral code in memory, would reside in the GPU memory address space, and thus would go undetected by mainstream virus scanners that only scanned system RAM and not GPU RAM.
