I know i know, its hard to find ANYTHING decent under $175/night in london, but i'm gonna try...

Im leaving for Oxford the beginning of July, and will have 3 nights to spend in London before my semester begins... Last time i went to London my fiancee and i stayed at the Citadines Trafalgar Square (Beautiful Hotel, Excellent Location, ~ $200/night). Since im going alone this time, i thought i might try and stay somewhere else, perhaps a bit cheaper, say $150-$200/night. If i didnt have my laptop and D70 w/ me i wouldnt mind even staying at a hostel and pocket the difference in price, but i would prefer a normal hotel, rather than sharing a room with 15 other lost souls.

So, any recommendations? Since we stayed in Trafalgar square last time, i wouldnt mind staying somewhere else, as long as its near some sights (i.e. Covnant Garden, Buckingham Palace, Kensington Gardens, etc...) Also, close tube stop is vital as i will be carrying a month and a half worth of clothes as well :D

Yah, its shite compared to last time i went 3 years ago.... BUT, going to school abroad works out about $1500 cheaper than spending the summer at my home university :D

we stayed at the park international at south kensington for like $70 USD with their internet special a night for a room for 3 ppl. It was tiny, and more like 1 star than 3 stars hotel, but the price was right, and you get your own room and bathroom, 3mins walk to the kensington tube station This was like 2-3yrs ago thou, good luck.

$48 uk pounds for single around early july.

I stayed at the Grosvenor Thistle which now seems to be called the Thistle Victoria. It is in the heart of the Westminster district and is literally attached to Victoria Station which means you can get bus, train or tube to literally anywhere. My family was originally going to stay in Bayswater but our rooms were being renovated so the Bayswater Inn booked us at the Thistle, which was definitely a step up. Looks like rooms are a little pricey starting at around 80 pound/night, but it's a great spot.

it's 78pds now, I hope they dont use some kind of script to jack the price if it senses a lot of hits looking for a room at a particular hotel, can someone write a script like that, maybe I can patent this technology, ;)anyway, I digress... I used july 3, actually I think that whole area around south kensington is pretty cheap, you might wanna check around.

Good gravy! I wonder why the price drops so much once July begins? Maybe it's more expensive to book within the same month?

Actually, just found Hotels.com has it for $188/night for all 3 nights, looks like a good deal... If i dont find anything else, looks like we have a winner, thanks!

We stayed at the Wellington, more of a hostel. 40 pounds/night. But you probably aren't on the budget I was on.

I stayed at the Jolly Hotel St Ermins. Its right off of Victoria St. near Victoria Station. Great location, although a bit expensive.

Ranging from 85-300 pounds.

EDIT: Its on Caxton St. which is no more than a 10 min walk to Victoria Station. (Tube)

85 pounds isnt that bad, its a classy hotel. Text
