-Towne Place Suites by Marriott, in Falls Church, Virginia, home for more than 10 years.
-politically appointed position with the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
-less than the price of many apartment rentals in the Washington metro area (roughly $1,500-$1,700 a month)

article doesnt say if my tax $ was used to pay for the hotel. (i hope not)
article also doesnt say exactly how much the cost was. how much less than $1500/month?

this has some answers
sounds like she paid for it, it was her 'home'
she negotiated a lower rate than the standard $139/night it says
http://www.washingtonpost.com/local...for-10-years/2011/10/26/gIQAawkuJM_story.html

139/nite is the daily rate. but extended stay hotels usually have a much cheaper weekly/monthly rate.

if it's less than 1500/month, then it's less than 50/day. just curious how much less.

hm.. comes w/complimentary continental breakfast and free wifi.
and obviously maid service.

her room is 500sq feet, which is like an efficiency if renting.
my apt in arlington,va back in ~2001 was 1 bedroom for $600/month. i think the efficiency in the same building was like $500/month. gas/electricity/heat/ac included.
