Hotbar virus

HI

I am new here. Its my 4th or so posting. I hope someone can help, because I dont know what I am doing with viruses.

I have been getting a virus alert from McAfee two days running now for a file named: ProgramFiles\Hotbar\bin\4.4.6.0\HbHos ......dll at the end. AVG doesnt detect it.

I cannot remove the program manually in the Program files section. either using PGP swipe or an standard delete to Recyle Bin.

Is this file noted above a virus?

Thanks in advance.

JanT🙂

its just about as good as a virus...

It's probably showing up in your scanner because it's exhibiting virus-like actions... Spybot Search & Destroy, paired with ad-aware works wonders...

Considering how annoying spy/adware and browser hijacks have become that is one of the best threads ever! Thanks Schadenfroh! 😀

Thank you so much for this thread. I have cut and pasted it into a word doc for future reference. I downloaded the Spybot and it worked fine. Amongst a bunch of other junk, There were 60 or so Hotbar files in red... three woudlnt budge, so I had to reboot and run Spybot again, then it got rid of it completely.

Ran McAfee, no Hotbars to be seen

THANKS so much for putting the time and effort into this information.

Most grateful

JanT
