Could a experienced and knowledgable gamer (ie no xbox fanboys) give a list of must have or good Xbox games? I'm having a tough time figuring out what games to get for the Xbox.

I've been reading reviews, as I am about to purchase Xbox (now that the price has dropped). I'm a sports-gamer, so those types of games are heavy on my list. But here are the ones I plan to purchase:

Halo
Tony Hawk Pro Skater 3
Project Gotham Racing
Fifa Soccer 2002
NFL Blitz 20-02


The Sega Sports series gets good reviews, so I plan to buy the following when they come out: NFL 2K3, and NBA 2K3. I'm also considering Spider-Man the Movie.

These seem to be enough games to keep me busy for quite a while. So I'm not concerned by the reports that PS2 has so many more good games than Xbox. The supply seems fine to me, and the Xbox packs better hardware (for better graphics, smoother edges), a hard drive, 4 controller ports, a slightly better DVD player, and who knows what else. Good luck.

You can't use the 10% on xbox consoles or ps2 consoles for BB preferred customer weekends. Technically that is. If your checkout person is not too bright (unlike me) hehehe then you might get away with a good deal.

Pardon my stupidity, but if I buy an Xbox from Best Buy tomorrow for $299.99 and then come back the next day with a printout for $199.99, how much money will Best Buy refund me with the 110% PM? $110?

Correct, but you'll need to be pretty smooth to talk them UP to get them to sell it to you for $299 since it should be priced at $199.

BB price guarantee 110% of the differece which means 10% of $100 (299.99-199.99) = $10.00. Yeap, you'll get back $110 and some tax you already paid.

Both ebgames and gamestop proudly state "Factory" Refurbished for their XBox Consoles.

Are they refurbed by Microsoft, or each sites "trained staff" (no comment)? Of course legally "Factory" means 100% Microsoft, but who's to tell for sure?

I'd feel much better buying a "Factory Refurbished" by Microsoft over the "trained staff."

I believe all of MS's refurbs are farmed out to the actual manufacturer's factories in Mexico (I think). It's either Flextronics or Solectron...

That's cool. I'd actually much rather buy a Refurb in this case, since the Xbox has apparently had some problems in the past.

Basically "Microsoft" is given a second chance to make things right. And of course, 20 bucks is a small but important chunk of change. :)

The only games I like are Halo and FIFA 2002 World Cup. Don't really like Madden or other games.

Wow, ebgames.com has VERY reasonable shipping costs! $6.99 for FedEX 2nd Day Air and $8.99 for FedEX One Day Air!

I took the plunge and ordered a refurb with 1st Day Air. Since there's no tax for CA (!), my total is $188.98. That has *got* to be the cheapest deal I can find on any kind of XBox from a "known" retailer that doesn't include accessories that I'll ever even touch. :)

Seriously, unless you live in Nevada or Pennsylvania (where they charge tax), ebgames is the best place to order from. Get it in a day cheaper than what you'd pay for whatever your local tax rate is. ;) (Of course I'm speaking from a place where the tax rate is 8.25%!).

Now I hope my "second chance to get things right" theroy on Refurbs pays off. :)

all my friends have ps2. i really want the xbox (yes, because it's from microsoft!).
which one should i get? xbox or ps2?
