HOT--XBOX CONNECT---FREE---FREE---FREE

XBconnect has been around for a looong time... So nothing new here... But, yes, it's good to get out the word for and alternative to giving M$ more money.

You can also use XLINK KAI. I use it with no probs on my windoze setup and my Linux box. 😛

Also, you can use XBMC as your interface and just run the KAID engine on your pc. OR you can go completely PC-less if you've got a Linksys WRT54G/S. -Check Team XLINK's site for XBMC guides, firmware, and the engines. (Runs on Windows, Linux, and Macs.) 😛

good summary

How do you sign up or download to play? All i see is this.. doesnt sound free to me?

License/Purchase agreement

After you purchase XBC Pro. You will be supplied a serial number. It is this serial number that unlocks the features of XBC Pro. This is a one time payment. You will be entitled to all XBC Pro upgrades for the life of the product. You must keep this serial number private. Serial numbers are authenticated by the XBC server and can be shut off in the event they are distributed to others. You cannot transfer your serial number to another individual.

XBC Pro is a NONREFUNDABLE purchase. XBConnect reserves the right to terminate your account at any time for any reason. You will not be refunded in the event of termination or the event XBConnect stops functioning.

The xbc standard is free. The xbc PRO version costs some cash. They do a good job of leading you to the pro version on that page. Just download the standard version from the download link.

Pro gets you:
Access to pre release versions and features that Non pro users don't receive.
Ability to host more than 10 Xboxes (including yourself).
Lets you search for users that have a game you want to play.
XBC Pro lets you apply ping filters to the game list.
XBC Pro lets you find players near you. This helps setting up Lag free games.
XBC Pro lets you search for players that have the same games as you.
You also get that warm fuzzy feeling for supporting all our efforts.
Customize kicks
More player control
Mute players in chat
MIRC colors
Future XBC plugins, like the chess plugin
Player banning

xbconnect is nice, but only works with games that support system link, so not all Live games will work. Plus large games get laggy, but its good for free

Yup. The lag is pretty bad on XBoxconnect.

XBC has been around for a long time but I've never used it. I'll have to remember to give it a try this weekend and see how it works. TOo bad more games don't support system link though.

yup

The only game worth playing over XBC was Halo 1 anyway. The only real "cheats" for that game was the invisible wall patches some people had. Quite frankly everyone I played with was so good they'd pwn the cheaters. The cheaters had no real skill and quite frankly, would get pwned by a 3 shotter. Invisible walls can't help you strafe better.

I've been playing on KAI for a few months on/off now. I haven't seen any cheaters and I'm sure the room host would boot them anyway. Lag hasn't been bad either. Some guys are bad, some great! About the same with any online gaming w/o dedicated servers that you normally have to pay for.

I would recommend you at least check out XLINK KAI before paying M$. It's extremely easy to setup and use. And yes, you don't have to mod your xbox to use it... and its very rare that ppl w/ modded xboxes would try to cheat anyway. 😛

Yes this is very old news, but ou can't blame you for posting. I used to use it when I played the original Halo,b ut that is it. I do not mind paying $50 a year for Xbox Live. It is worth it. Especially with Halo 2.

I've used both and XB Live experience is much better.

I do admit the 1 yr subscriptions and mics are a ripoff but try to get it off eBay at some reasonable prices.

XBLive is the best, of course. You pay a premium for it, shouldn't expect any less. XBConnect is okay for a free app, but I think Team XLink did a terrific job. Their application is robust and works well, only problem is the GUI is a little hard to understand at times. But all in all, I'd recommend XLink (link in first reply) over XBConnect

For everything that Live provides better than XBC or Kai, the whopping $4.16/month is a freakin' bargain.

thanks for posting this, i set up Kai just yesterday and it works great!.... Is x-box connect better than kai?
