These ARE good knives (I have Wustoff), and a good price, however, 9 pieces is a bit much. You really only need like 3-4 knives plus a steel. Save your money and buy some All-Clad pots with it.

One good 8" chef's knife is enough for 90% of kitchen tasks. Throw in a parer and maybe a carving knife or a santuko & yer done.

I agree.. if you really want a whole bunch of them.. the titanium ones on HSN are pretty good and they are just a 100 odd

I agree, in fact I actually own the Henckels Professional S series and just have the smallest set plus a sashimi knife but really.. I use the chefs knife and the bread knife far more than any of the rest..

some people like to have a tomatoe knife and all the others though.. plus it's a good deal..

as far as al-clad goes.. as soon as I can find a SS Al-Clad set.. you betcha I'll be postin that

titanium knives are very cool, but they will eventually need sharpening, and they are best left to a professional.. high carbon steel knives are used in kitchens because you can sharpen them to a very clean edge and they still maintain an edge well with the use of a steel.

Sorry you missed the Lechters 50% off coupon last Christmas, they were taking it at Linens & things and Bed Bath & Beyond. Folks were hookin up that $499 set of All Clad for 1/2 price (or Emerilware, or Calphalon). That was probably the hottest deal on cookware I've seen in my lifetime.

Look for the Lechters 40-50% off coupons, All-Clad is hard to find on sale.

Both Wustoff and Henckels are excellent knifes...for the price its definitely worth it. I have a set of Henckels 4 star and they are very sharp and I use it all the time and very happy with it.

Here's another knife tip/hot deal:

Take your Henckels/Wustoff knives in for professional sharpening, (even if they're brand new), it's amazing, I could never get them this sharp at home (and I have ALL the crap you could buy). You only need to do it like once every 2 years, just steel them other times, every use or so.

It's what pro chefs do. Next time you're in a restaurant and you're seated near an open kitchen, or you see a chef smoking a cig, ask him where he takes his knives. It costs about a $1 per knife.

I'd take a $15 restaurant supply stainless chef's knife like these with a professional sharpened edge over a $100 department store knife any day.

Also, not that hot, but these Global knives are awesome

Don't cut your fingers off, man.

Cutco knives are awesome in my opinion! But you'll never find any hot deals on them like this one...

While they are good knives, it's a standard price. Other people will have it for the same price. Wusthof (and other retailers) have special set prices that are much cheaper than buying individually, and lower margin for the retailer. I know because I run a web site also.

Great knives, but not exactly hot. Not thread crapping, just an FYI that they are available at the same price in many sources.
