I have a couple friends coming over on Sunday to watch some football. I want to make some hot wings. This will be my first time making some, and I obviously don't want them to taste like crap. Any of you ever make some? If you did, what did you do? What kind of hot sauce? What other ingredients? I would have to put them in the oven since i don't have a deep fryer. I was checking google and there's so many recipes I wouldn't know where to start.

Help me oh great ones!

:)

Butter, hot sauce, some sugar, some crushed garlic, couple drops of worcestershire.

Fry up the wings till almost done - like 80% done.

Then take another pan on high heat and add all the ingredients above. As soon as the butter bubbles with the hot sauce - add back the wings. Continuously keep shaking the pan and the stuff over high flames for 5 mins to get crispy skin.

Note: key in making this is a good quantity of butter.

Enjoy...

I can't remember the last time I purchased wings to cook myself... (I probably would if they were cheap, but I live in western NY, where demand for wings is so high that in grocery stores, chicken wings are the MOST expensive part of the chicken.) But, the classic recipe is to deep fry the wings, mix melted butter and Frank's red hot; proportion depending on how hot you want them... When the wings float, they're done. Toss them onto some paper towels in a bowl to absorb any extra oil; let them sit for a minute to cool slightly. Pull the greasy paper towels out, then toss in your sauce and flip them around a bit. Serve with celery (and/or carrot) sticks, and blue (bleu) cheese dressing - extra thick and chunky. The regular blue cheese salad dressing is too thin and sucks for wings.

If you want to try something incredible, add some sweet baby ray's bbq sauce to your hot sauce.

Sounds pretty good though - I think I'll stir-fry some boneless chicken skinless breast today and toss in some Frank's for flavor.

Like Dr. Pizza said... the best hot wings are just wings dunked in a simple heated combination of Frank's Red Hot sauce and butter. The standard recipe is on the back of the bottle.

For best results, use wings that have never been frozen-- but expect them to be outrageously expensive. Costco's and Sam's Club sell huge bags of frozen wings which are pretty good.

hmmm , now I want to give it a shot.

if I can't deep fry em, would pan frying work?

How do I get rid of that chicken smell?

thanx.

My recipe:

Sauce:
1/2cup butter, 1/2cup franks red hot, 1-2tsp Blairs Original Death Sauce, 2tsp Bone Suckin Sauce

Place into a shallow saute pan on low. Heat until well combined.

Wings:
Dredge wings in all-purpose flour
Dip in egg wash
Dredge in bread crumbs mix (50% regular/50% Italian)
Fry in corn oil at 350F until dark golden brown
Transfer wings directly from fryer to pan with sauce on low
Toss wings in sauce

I always use the recipe on the back of the Franks bottle but add a tablespoon or two of white distilled vinegar.

another fan of Frank's here, Red Hot and Buffalo. Trader Joe's has a good hot sauce, they call it hot, i call it medium but tasty. like dr. pizza said, thick n chunky bleu cheese. i like ranch too.

wow... it's definitely way in favor of Frank's. I'm going to the store now to pick some up. I can't wait until tomorrow.

Like everyone else said...Franks' Red Hot, butter, sugar to taste. You can also try grilling the wings if you don't want to fry them.

I use the same seasonings, but I bake them. Plus, i use some seasoning salt. I then stir the cooked wings in Franks Hot Sauce. Never had a finger lickin' complaint yet :)

Ok so I didn't have any Frank's on hand so I used a combination of butter, Louisiana Hot Sauce, some Teryaki sauce, some garlic and pepper and the result was quite tasty.

I like a variation of the butter/hot sauce, add some honey to the mix as well. I grill
my wing,s then douse in sauce and return to grill for 5 min. or so to crisp 'em up.
blue cheese or ranch dressing for dipping...

Variation on the franks sauce:

butter + cider vinegar + franks + garlic + parsley

Where do you get sweet baby ray's? One of my friends uses it for a great cocktail weenie sauce but I can't find it!
