Whoa, thanks - I've been needing a new iron for over a year now, but have been too cheap to buy one.
I can finally throw the old, rusty POS one away!

Great Post!! Bought two and some of the Top Flite Golf Balls....

Now if I can only find a way of talking my wife into letting me use the golf balls and her use the iron..... THAT WOULD BE A HOT DEAL!!

Thanks for the post!!

Bummer

[NOT NECESSARILY OUT-OF-LUCK...Try re-ordering if at first you don't succeed...Seems to have worked for me a second time.]

Hmmm...I managed to order it a few minutes after receiving the "out of inventory" message I posted above.

Got a confirmation number.

I suggest trying to re-enter the order if you receive the "We're sorry..." message. It *seems* to have worked for me.

Total cost: $18.47 (after 10% discount, S&H and tax)

Choose from among the links here for elaboration of specs, features and benefits from Philips' own website.

Note: "Available at Target Stores...Available online at Target.com"

And a rating: "Best Steam Irons" Full Story

<< Philips HI 478 (*est. $80) >> Philips irons are rated highly by one of our top reviewers, the British site Which? Online, but the models recommended here are not available in the United States. Since three of the four top-rated irons are by Philips, we feel confident that two models available in the U.S. at Target stores perform equally well. The Philips HI 478 (*est. $80) has all the features of the Rowenta Professional for $20 less. The HI 296 (*est. $40) is a scaled-down version with less forceful steam, lower wattage, and no anti-calcium filter, but it's still plenty of iron for normal household use. Both feature a removable water tank, non-stick soleplates, three-way auto shutoff, a self-cleaning function, spray mist, variable steam, and reviewers' favorite feature, steam burst. >>

Summary re review at Which?Online (Source)

<< British consumer review magazine Which? Online put two professional ironers to task with 17 irons, instructing them to keep pressing garments until they were satisfied with the results. Remarkably, some irons took an astonishing 40 minutes to satisfactorily press wrinkles out of a dress shirt! This rigid testing convinces us that the two best irons are the Philips Mistral HI 332 and Philips Azur Excel Plus HI 515. Two lower-priced options mentioned here are the Philips HI 215 and Moulinex Berlingo ACQ8 P1. In the U.S., Philips irons are sold under the brand name Norelco. >>

Wierd. It's say "your promotion/source code has been accepted", but it doesn't take off the 10%. What's up with that? Anyone make sure the 10% was discounted?

Well there it is. I tried to redo it and the 2nd time around the 10% discount showed up, only this time the philips iron was removed from my order. :( Maybe the discount is only good on a single item? Anyway, maybe next time.

Sendero:

Might prove worthwhile trying again: See my experience below. Also, the irons could be available at B&M Target stores, according to info at the Philips online website. (see below for link.)

(Possibly the inventory database has locked records during times when orders are being processed. Same record becomes unlocked and available later. Until unlocked, "out of inventory" messages are returned. Just speculating.)

Tried three times, but doesn't work for me. Oh well, my clothes don't need ironing that much anyway ;)

How do you get it to sit up vertically? The base looks kind of small!

Dude, this bites. I tried 6 times - twice in Netscape, 4 times in IE, and I can't get past the place where you put in the discount! I need one of these badly, too!

Reminder: Possible these irons are also available in B&M Targets, if unable to purchase online. (from Philips' website "Where to buy")

These irons went 75% off at the b&m the beginning of June. You may get lucky and find a straggler though.

Target.com also has a Black & Decker iron for 2.94.

Another thing about ordering from Target.com, their inventory system is all messed up. Even though you get a confirmation, it doesn't mean they have the item in stock. It may take 2 days before you get the cancellation notice.

Interesting, I order the iron and a few candleholders using the above mentioned coupon code. it turns out that it's not 10% off but I got free shipping instead.
