I was thinking about buying the 1TB version of this drive then I stumbled onto this one. The 1TB one is $99.99. It has 32MB cache.

I use a pair of 640 blacks in raid-0 for performance. Rock solid. Paid $60.00 each.

All essential data is copied to another drive using synctoy.

I remember this drive having 3 platters, thus being slower than the 640 drive. Did they update the model? If not, its not a hot deal really.

3 platters, but they are the 333 platers, not the 250... it's a 1tb with a head disabled... should be virtually identical to the 640 performance-wise...
