Fine print in today's BB add. Not a smokin deal but not to bad either. It's WD1600jbrt which appears to be the hard drive w/o the ata card. Sams has the wd1600jbrtl for $149.00 (with card) My experience is such that BB and Office Depot clerks never wait for more than a minute on hold trying to PM Sams. Theoretically, you could PM at BB to Sams and get the $199 list price on the drive down to about $140. Then apply the $10 instant rebate and the $70 MIR. That would put your drive price in the $70 range. I couldn't find the drive on the BB website at all so it must be b&m only.

I'll try it out tomorrow when I get near one.

Good luck,

Gravity

Edit: Tallahassee BB accepts Sam's pricematch to 148.67. My total is $159.00 out the door with the $70 MIR. Total price is just $89 after rebate. I was stunned to learn that this is the special edition drive, 8mb, 7200, 3 yr warranty!!! My brother in Vegas did the same deal there in less than 10 minutes. Deal is alive and kicken...get yer storage while it's cheap!!!

Best,

Gravity

I would say this would be a YMMV deal.

1. PMing at BB is 50-50. My local BB is B*tch about PMing other stores.
2. Sam's club store, so they're more difficult to PM against.
3. If I've remember correctly, there's a recent news that Best Buy's own rebate (i.e., the Calasis, ME center. Not manufacture's own rebate) DOES NOT accept rebate submission with Pricematched good..... so your MIR could be voided. Unless the $70 MIR is by WD themselves.

#1 and #2 is pretty much depends on your luck, but what struck me is #3.... Their new policy sucks.

The official Best Buy policy is to not PM to membership stores. At least that's what they told me to tell customers when I worked there. So YMMV.

Nice deal, if you can PM with BB.

$70 MIR

Sale is till July 12.

Mailed to:

WD160GB/$50 MIR
PO Box 5095
Young America, MN 555585095
18882920667

Looks like a Manufacturers rebate with Best Buy.

Note:
In-store rebates are valid on in-store purchases only. BestBuy.com rebates are valid with online purchases only.

That just plain sux!!! I guess I'll have to wait the 8 weeks and see. I guess that the store just prints out the receipts you need for the rebate and lets the rebate center be the bad guy? Too bad, I'd have been better off going to Sam's and using my tax exempt card. YMMV for sure!!

The rebate receipts themselves have been containing the language that the rebate won't be valid if price matched.

Check this thread: Best Buy rebate forms disallowing price match.

So waiting 8 weeks to see if you get the rebate might not be the way to go if the rebate form says right on it that it won't be honored if price matched.

This rebate does not go to Calais ME, so it is surely a WD rebate, and I DO NOT see the BB rebate language "Items which have been competitive price matched, price adjusted, will no longer be eligible for this rebate."

This looks like it would go through!
