When I spoke with a csr about the whole warranty thing he told me that if I put it in a dell system that the warranty of the system would extend itself to any dell made parts i put in it. So from the conversation I had with him I would say its a yes. Anyway how would they ever know...just dont let it slip out when you talk to them.

On a side note I decided to return this drive because of the compusa deal goin on right now. But I decided to ask about the warranty on it one more time first. And believe it or not the csr couldt find out. I was on hold with her for 15-20 minutes before she told me she couldnt contact anyone that knew. She them gladly issued me an rma and sent some return labels out.

Has anyone else not gotten their drive who ordered it on the first day? Mine still says "in transit to carrier" even though it has been saying that since Friday.

I can corroborate that. I ordered a WD1200JB through this deal last week. It arrived today, and although it has a DP/N on it (isn't that a Dell Part Number?), I put the serial number in at westerndigital.com and it came up warranteed through 5/05 (manufactured 5/18/02).

So these drives DO carry a three year warranty after all, with WD and not Dell. Someone correct me if I'm wrong!

i was looking around at other online stores, and they all seem to say theres a 3year wd warranty on oem drives. you can check newegg or allstarshop for details. if thats the case, it would make sense that dell oem drives woudl also qualify

about to make a purchase of some of these dells...and some other stuff to use that new stackable coupon! :)

if the web site says so, it must be so :) unless someone wants to call WD and verify but I don't know why the site would be wrong

I received my drive today, a check on the western digital site revealed that they do not warrant my drive. So I guess it's luck of the draw here.
