If you could apply that $75 rebate to Fry's, it would make it a very HOT deal! Fry's now has the WD 100GB for $139.95 without any rebates. So, the deal would be:

WD 100GB $139.95
MIR -$75

TOTAL = $64.95

Anyone care to try? I still have my fingers crossed for my $50 rebate to come through.

For those of you who bought the drive before, if you still have your receipt bring it back for a pricematch against themselves. I bought a 60gb WD hdd last year for $160 - $80 rebate, the next week their price went down to $100 and I pricematched themselves and got the rebate, total price was $20 + tax...

I got into the deal like a lot of you guys. Today I received I received my rebate submission back. On the front of the envelope there was a big red stamp saying OFFERED EXPIRED and RETURN TO SENDER. Has anyone besides me got this? My postmark date was May 28th. It was well within the state time frame? Anyone got this? Of BTW they never opened the enevelope.

What can we do?

I got the same unopened envelope back.

We gotta raise a stink about this one, we complied with all the rules (Heck, I even got the form directly from Frys, and got the Xeroxed "OFFICIAL COPY" rebate!

My first post... patience, please. But good news, I think. I also received the unopened WD100 GB $50 rebate today stamped in RED INK: Offer Expired. I called 888 292 0667, WD Rebate Center, and spoke to nice lady named Renet. This is what I was told: Send the original submission, including the stamped envelope, to WD Rebate, Dept 4722-202, PO Box 1600, Young America, MN 55594-1600. Hope this works! .. Jim

I just received the rebate form returned from the address given by Renet, posted by WildWildWest (Dept. 4722-202, PO Box 1600, Young America, MN 55594-1600). The envelope is unopened, with "OFFER EXPIRED" stamped in red, same as last time.

Anyone has any luck with this rebate? Looks like it's probably not gonna happen.

Got it!

After I got the red-stamped "rejection" envelope, I called the 888 number. The gentleman there told me to FAX a copy of everthing in the envelope, including the postmark date on the "rejected" envelope to him, and to put ATTN 4722-202 on the FAX TO line. I did that. Then I heard the instructions posted above to send everything to that same PO BOX and I did that, too. I don't know which worked, but my $50 WD rebate came in yesterday, direct from WD. In my FAX and in my envelope (containing the other "rejected" envelope), I put a politely worded letter, basically asking them to help me get my rebate, because I complied with all the terms on the rebate sheet. I don't know if it matters, but I also had the original Fry's rebate form, not a copy or web print-out.

Good luck to everyone!

I just got off the phone with WD customer service and they told me that as of July 1, the rebate offer has been cancelled. I might have just missed the window for resubmission. The rep gave me what he thought was a number for Fry's. This number was actually Outpost.com which wasn't helpful at all. They directed me back to my Fry's store. Looks like I'm out of luck. Still don't know if many others are in the same boat though.

BOO..kind of OT, but I got these at the recent crapusa sale and just returned it yesterday for a full refund..the thing CRAPPED OUT in less than a week. This is not an isolated case, Ive heard quite a few ATers in the hardware and tech support forums who have problems with the 1000bb. I just got myself the 80GB baracuda from Dell. Just hope I have better luck :)

i tried to jump on the deal when this is posted.
same thing happened to me.....rebate was rejected
right now...i'm just waiting for FRYs to have another rebate on the hard drive
what i'm planning to do is..buy another hard drive...photocopy the new receipt
send it the new rebate form along with the copy of the new receipt but with the UPC from the 1st
hard drive i got. Second, i'll return the new hard drive to FRYs untouched.
they will be more than happy to take that back...
hope this will work...

Okay this thread is supposed to be gone but I will resurrect again because of the rebate problems.
Today I called the phone number 1- 888-292-0667 and I told the CSR the whole situation and she seem to knew this rebate problems and the CSR told me to fax the rebate paperwork again to the fax number: 952-467-1109 attn: DEPT 4722-202. and to wait for another two week to call in to check the rebate status because it seems that they don't have any information regarding my rebate submission in their database.
And she told me to tell " all my friend" who has the same problems to fax in alo.
