Xing, assuming you have an AGP slot on your mobo, there's no reason I can think of this card shouldn't work. I have an Intel 44BX board from mid 1998 and my Geforce3 runs like a champ.

xing, you also have to check if your motherboard is only AGP 1.0 or AGP 2.0 compatible.
i'm not sure if this card is AGP 1.0/2.0 compliant tho.

dongky is correct. A 4x card cannot run on a AGP slot that is 1x/2x. My old 440BX motherboard had only 1x. So make sure you check.

As I always said earlier in my life......a slower card can run on a fast slot but a fast card cannont run on a slower slot.

Actually, as I am sure dongky found out and edited, you can use a 4X AGP card in a 1X AGP motherboard- it will simply function in 1X AGP mode.

As a matter of fact, I am doing it right now (Geforce 2 MX o/c to GTS level on an Abit BH6 1.0 and Celeron 600 o/c to 1008) and it is a very good match.

I would be all over this board if I did not need my TV-Out and was not sure I would be processor limited, particularly in lower resolutions. Anyone running a P3 600 or Celeron 800 or better with anything less than a TNT2 Ultra should be on this like white on rice 🙂

Got mine an hour ago.... Yet to install it as I am at work right now, but I can't wait to get home. Im sure this will rock my V3 3500TV.... arrgh I would much rather be playing RTCW than be at work... 😀

So... what if it's wild rice?? 😀

That's it, I'm ordering one of these. I can't pass up such a fine vid card for $50. A friend just bought a computer last night from Best Buy (yeah, I know) and it hampers a 1.6ghz P4 with a TNT2 M64. Yeah, you read that right. I think this will improve his gaming tremendously.

A buddy of mine ordered a dell 1.6ghz system and the top of the line video card they offered was a tnt2 or something like that... I told him about this and he orderd one too. Pre-builts just aren't worth it anymore... (but then again, when were they?)

Newegg rocks!! I ordered mine Tuesday and it arrived in Florida Today... I can't wait to see how much better MOH:AA Runs compared to the Geforce1 I am replacing.

I hate you guys.. I finally had some $$$.. just completed $200 order with newegg..

But I got a new video card & processor

I just set up this card an loded MoH:AA SP Demo , it Rocks! All grapghic maxxed out and playable at 1024x768. Can't beat this card at any price.. well at leat least as far as geforce2's go.

<< How is the 2D side of this card compares to the Radeon? >>

T 2d is crisp. Looks geat. ai am so glad I jumped omn this on.

Man... ordered FedEx saver on Monday and it's here already! Now if I can just make the time to stick on of them in a machine!

Joe

Really want one.....

I saw someone in General Hareware upstairs say 32MB is not sufficient anymore, 64MB is standard, and 128MB is even better. Is that true? :|

For some reason I can't get my PIII700 @1050 to run UT longer than 2 minutes with this card when just last week I had a GF2MMX400 that would run UT for atleast 20 minutes. (that's the longest I played before quitting, not because it froze up)

I have heard by many that the GTS-V card is much better than the MMX400. Any ideas why it wont let me OC as much as the MMX?

Is it because the MMX has 64meg vs the GTS' 32?

thanks,

Mattlock

Nah, that's not true, the video memory factory actually weighs pretty lightly on overall video performance. I have a 32MB card right now (TNT2 M64) and i'm planning on upgrading to this GF2 w/ the same amount of memory because 32mb is still sufficient for pretty much all games.

I guess you could say 32MB is good, 64MB (such as on the high end TI500's) is great, and 128MB (on some of the new TI200's) is overkill

But that's just my opinion

Here, boys and girls, is a '3D Accelerator Video Memory Calculator' for determining how memory you need on your video card at specific resolutions and frame buffering. Don't fall into the 'more is better' trap. You'll only need more than 64mb of memory on a video card when you max all settings and run at 1600x1200@32bit color.
