Just got back from the local (Boulder, CO) CompUSA and they still had some on the shelf, UT2004SE. They did a price match with the BestBuy ad that I had with me and let me pick up 2 copies. I had checked another CompUSA yesterday and they had none.

damn I wish I had seen this a few days ago; the SE is gone, everywhere I look. which sucks, because I want it. Anyone know if it's still available anywhere, or coming in stock?

I've seen a few posts for B&M chains that have so far proven unsuccesful for me. Personally I have a big ol' BB gift card I'm hoping to use, but that may or may not happen.

I don't recall seeing any special edition stuff on the box, so assume its the normal version.

Special Edition is a silver metal box and it's marked DVD SPECIAL EDITION across the front, so yeah, you probably have the regular version. :p

If you can hold out a year or so...the SE's will be back on the market...guaranteed.

When Quake 3 came out everyone was hyped over the metal box Special Edition for like $60...and i was reading that it was in limited quantities.

A year or 2 later Microcenter had it for $2...metal box...everything.....what a hoax.

What hoax? It's the exact same price as the regular version at BB AND you get a headset that goes for $25 at CDW, etc. Plus a cool silver box! What more could you ask for?? lol

I give up on the DVD Special Edition unless there is a forum member who would like to offer an extra copy with compensation for their time and shipping costs. I travelled to several Best Buy stores with absolutely no luck on the day of release.:disgust:

I'd help you guys out, but there aren't even any regular versions left at any of the stores in my city nor in neighboring cities.

Sold my SE on ebay for $88. Why on earth would anyone pay that much for a game? The headsets suck from what I've heard. Just pay $40 and switch cd's a few times during the install.

I hope it gets lost in transit and you have to deal with the shipping company and the buyer.

I put delivery confirmation and insurance on it. Plus, the dude only lives 30 minutes away from me so I doubt that will happen :)

Arrg, my EB sold my pre-ordered (SE) copy as I wasn't able to pick it up until today :( But I got 2004 regular edition for $30 after pm'ing to bestbuy.

So if the $20 gift card goes through I will be a somewhat less sadened camper :)

Well I lucked out. Checked BB, CUSA and CC this afternoon just to double check if anyone had the SE version. Found none. Then tonight I saw the CC WD160GB for $20 AR deal and saw where my CC had it in stock. So I ran over there only to find they were out. While I was there I figured I would check for UT2K4SE one more time. What do you know, they had one. It was sitting sideways on the bottom shelf which made it hard to spot. They must have restocked after I left this afternoon. I paid the full $39.99 then went back to the CSR area to PM BB. They gave me $15 off. So after the $10 upgrade rebate my cost drops to $15. I'm a happy camper for now.

BTW, I did the preorder at bb.com that we think is cancelled and tried to get one at B&M when they first opened on Thursday and got screwed cause they put them out on Wednesday.

Screw BB!

Looks like I'm out of luck for that awesome SE version.

I sure wish I could at least get the DVDs. I hate juggling a half dozen CDs.

CC has UT2k4 on sale this week for $30. The ad shows a silver box similar but not the same as the SE version. If you have a B&M store you might be able to get the silver box SE version (if they are in stock) at the sale price.

BTW, did anyone figure out that initial email we received on the BB online preorder? They talked about a "value pack" not being available. I think they are talking about not being able to send the SE version but will send the standard version when they get some more in.

I got the same email, saying "the inventory for the Value Pak has now been depleted. As a result, we will be canceling the Value Pak from your order. " but the next day I got:

Qty Product Description

1 Unreal Tournament 2004: DVD Special Edition-Windows

Status: Backordered

And they say it should ship by 3/24. So they're rather confused.
