On a somewhat related note, Epic just released the UT2k4 Dedicated Server code today.
(This is the free dedicated server only)
Details:
These files allow anyone to run a dedicated UT2004 server, even if they do not own a retail copy of UT2004. Once installed, it will occupy around 2.0 GB of disk space, significantly smaller than the 5.5GB required for a retail installation. Server admins wanting to advertise their server to the official master server list, and be included in UT2004 stats will require a dedicated server key. Go to http://unreal.epicgames.com/ut2004server/cdkey.php to generate a dedicated server key

you need the UT2004 receipt and the front page of the UT2003 manual.

This is tempting. I already preordered the game @ EB, but they lied about the rebates and didn't mention needing UT2k3, so this would be cheaper. I don't need an ebgames gift card.

yes yes, i know that. i was referring to the 2 DVD SE version at EB vs. the 1 DVD SE version at BB. the only diff there is the extra DVD containing Unreal University and the car emblem.

In case you haven't noticed, all but one of the Atari/Epic Official servers for the demo have disappeared from the master server list. It seems obvious that they're preparing these servers for the retail version release. The release date of 3/15/04 appears to have been an approximation but since BB and others had to announce a specific date they posted theirs in their printed materials (which of course needs a lead time) as soon as they could expect their distribution channels to ship. Be patient, all the hurry means you'll just get your @sses fragged by me just a day sooner! He he he.

I'm pretty sure there is only one Special Edition (in the US anyway - Europe has a single DVD version in addition to the regular and Special Edition).

That's on the BB item. The tutorials are the second DVD, so I would assume that's a 2 DVD edition also.

Wow, great price! I was going to get this and cancel my EBGames order, but EBGames shipped my preordered special edition game today. I ordered it via the free method and it was shipped today via UPS. I wonder when it'll get here.

EBGames preorders shipped today. If you paid for overnight shipping, you'll have it tomorrow. If like me you got free slow shipping, it'll get there... soon enough. Come on people, it's just a game!

I wonder if BB getting the game on Thursday is a deal with Atari so that people that pre-ordered for $40 feel like they didn't get ripped off. Of course, I'll be getting mine for free thanks to a previous AT deal on pre-orders.

You should be able to check with UPS in a few hours, after your tracking number makes it into their system. It should show you an estimated time of delivery.
