that's cool but it's only $20 vs the expired one was for $30.

DaveS, maybe u should edit your post/topic to say 29.99 instead of 19.99

I have the Umax 2010U (slightly different model I believe) USB scanner. I got it from insight back in the day around September for around $15 shipped after rebate. Its a pretty good scanner. It does work with win 2000, but takes a little work. It involves updating the software through UMax's site with two separate downloads. The software isn't bad. It does have a neat little Xerox feture that lets you go straight from scanner to printer. Warm up time is pretty long, but imagine quality is good. For under $20 you really can not go wrong.

I have this very scanner. It's decent. For $20, I don't think you can go wrong. I'd say it's about the same quality as the canoscan's that tend to turn up for this price, too.

Mine works fine. It's biggest drawback is that it's slow, but the picture quality is, in my opinion, much better than you might expect from a $20 scanner.

I also have this scanner and for the money, it's great. I chuckled though when I read MontyBurns' comment about it being slow. I upgraded from a Memorex 3600P (parallel port) scanner and the UMAX is much faster. And, unlike the Memorex, I can actually do other things on my system while I'm scanning with the UMAX. (Which may be a function of the USB connection.)

And yes, it is Win2K compatible.

They said "rebate extended to Feb 15th", that's kinda bull; it has to be POSTMARKED by the 15th. But, you could use the other rebate mentioned and get it for $30.

"I want my friggin' money." :))

I forwarded my e-mail verification to: customerservice@insight.com

Hi,
Website before purchase says rebate ends 2/15, but after purchase, I
printed out the rebate on purchase page and it says ends 1/15. Please
deduct $30 from purchase price, or cancel order since rebate is
fraudulent/invalid.
Thanks,
Bob

Hi, gang!

UMAX is currently #2 on my rebate all time stinker list for being overdue. (FYI Quantum is worse by 3 weeks.)

I sent in my stuff on 10/04/00 and UMAX rebate center acknowledges that my paperwork is complete, but..... they can't seem to pay me the $20 that was owed , oh! so long ago!!

Look, there are plenty of good scanner deals out there. $crew UMAX as they DON"T pay their rebates as promised.

FYI, when you order from Insight (I got the 1600U scanner a while back from them), they just ship it to you in the retail box; they don't put it in another box to ship or anything. It should be OK though, as the scanner has styrophome padding around it in the box. Just struck me as odd when I got the package and it was the scanner box with a shipping label on it!
