Compgeeks made an error, it's not 355, it's 335. Look at the description, they do mention it as 335 later. Some other clues are Compgeeks PDA runs PPC 2K2, 355 comes with 2k3 version only. 335 was silver (as pictured), 355 is darker grey color. 355 has transflective screen, 335 reflective only, it's in description as well.

not for the 355 tho ..thanks ..but now its down to this PocketPC 2k3 OS and its possible lack of support for mass storage devices/driver support..have not found any yet.. ..would have been nice to browse/play 80GB or more mp3s/wmv files while at work(work sucks with access control lists on just about all appz :| )

I too don't think it had Integrated Wi-Fi....but I was wondering where you saw that this wont support the SD Wi-Fi card?

This is the E335 not the E355. It has the 2002 OS...

I read in this article about this incompatibility. Also, it's not listed on SanDisk's website as a compatible unit. Any confirmation of this would be helpful as I'd like to buy the Toshiba if it turns out to be compatible.

I was pretty bummed when I found out that this doesn't work with the wireless sd wifi cards out there...
I just got the e350 (same as the e355, just without photo software) last week at techdepot.com for $150. It was originally 203.95, but they lowered it to 149.95 for a couple of days, and now it's at 266.95. I'm sure they'll lower the price again soon, since it says they have over 2000 of these in stock.

As for the wifi card, ecost.com is selling them for 92.99. The description on the ecost specifically mentions that the toshibas don't support any wifi cards. big bummer. i might end up selling the e350 when hp's h1945 price comes down...

I got the 355 a few weeks ago, and I'm relatively happy with it. Yeah, it sucks that it's not compatible with that wifi card, but there's a good chance that other cards won't require the SDnow standard (or whatever it's called) in order to work. More importantly, if I really wanted wifi, why pay another $100 for it on a sd card when you can just buy a more expensive pda with it built-in?

The best feature so far is that I can hookup my cell phone to it via the toshiba USB host cable. That's pretty nice, since my phone doesn't have bluetooth, IR, etc.

Other than that, I feel that $200 is just right for this device. I'm happy with my purchase.

Most PDAs with USB support are client-only -- like a printer, mouse, etc., they connect "outbound" to a PC for syncing. The Toshiba PDAs, with a $20 host mode cable, let you use peripherals (only those with CE drivers) with it. For example, there's a "mass storage" driver available which lets me use a USB CF reader with the PDA. That same driver would let me use a USB hard drive with it.

The phone's USB cable is based on a chip (Prolific 2302) which has a driver available for CE. So the phone looks like a standard modem to the PDA. I'm using Verizon's Express Network (uses my voice minutes, or free on nights/wkends) at "up to 144kbps" (reality: around 70-80kbps). It's not wi-fi, but it's pretty decent.
