Just got mine!

I've had it 30 minutes and I love it.

Took no time flat to set up paging, text messaging, and voice mail. Didn't even ask for a credit card!

Two time zones is nice: as a pilot, I can hit a button and get Zulu time without doing math.

James Bond, eat your heart out!

I have had mine to two days now. Easy to use - toll free number wth personalized greeting, all great.

In checking the Skytel website, it indicates the services you get free are worth $650 - which is about right - about 55/mo.

I do not know if I will need (or use) them all, or if I will be able to afford the luxury next year, but for the next year which is free...

I am getting a few of these as gifts - they can be activated any time until 31 December, but it is a limited time offer...

I thought about ditching my regular pager and carrying one of these - like hang it on my belt or in a pcoket or something (take the band off)
What do you guys think? (I Like my 'norma' watch)

I'd get one but my cell phone has its own email/voice mail/SMS so I can get messages and have 2 ways convos over AIM Wireless. It does look kickass though.

I haven't had a problem with mine yet. Shifted over the big brother updates from work to my watch instead of my phone (so I don't have to pay for each alert).

In 3 months ive missed maybe 2 pages (not infofeeds) out of 25 or so, but its not really a fair comparision as those that i have missed (that im aware of) have been while im driving in and out of service areas.

Got MINE Friday! You would not beleive how many people didn't know these existed. (I saw then 2 years ago, but didn't want to pay the airtime!) I am EXTREMELY happy with it. I get some YAHOO stuff that I could care less about (price of housing in Washington rose 6% this month, I live in Southern CA, who cares!) but I get all of my pages\e-mails so far.
I paid $56 for mine, but in retrospect I'da paid for te $7 overnight shipping vice the standard priority, cause I just couldn't ait to get it! I live close to an area that get's only analog roaming on the sprint cell phone, and this is a great way, when I'm on-site in that area, for my wife to remind me to pick up milk (or kids!) on the way home or to call her since she cannot reach me otherwise.

There are two kinds of messages.. direct, and broadcast.

The broadcast messages are those small "i" yahoo messages that consist of:
Yahoo! -- some ultra-short blurb -- SOURCE: REUTERS

The "news" is something really in-depth, like "Jason Priestly injured", or "Tensions rise in middle-east". Who writes this stuff?

As far as I know, there is no way to turn these off. They're broadcast to every pager on the network, and the watch has no way to "ignore" them. Fortunately, they don't beep or anything, so you can just ignore the "i" if you don't want your insipid piece of entertainment trivia for the hour. The watch remembers only the last one, so you never know if it will be sports, entertainment, world news, or market wrapup.

The direct messgages are aimed straight at your watch, and you do control those. You can select stock quotes or headlines to your liking, and they are actual pages. They're longer than the "info" junk, and beep the watch like any other page. You can select them at mobile.yahoo.com or wherever, since it's just email.

I'm practically sold on this watch, and I see the coupon...but can it be used with any Credit Card? Sorry if this is a bad question...also, if anyone went to timex.com the other day, they were down for repairs, and if you left your e-mail address, they sent you a coupon...does anyone know if that coupon can be used as well on this?

Seems like the website is down or something. I think the coupon works with all credit cards, someone mentioned that earlier. I have a question about the email forwarding thing. So do you actually get an account from skytel that you can check? Something like hotmail? And how much information is forwarded to the pager? Just the subject line?

Yes, that coupon can be used as well, however stackable is in question.

If you get sent an e-mail you get 100 chars of it I believe. You can log in to their site and look at your message recall to 'check' if you don't get them to your watch, if that's what you mean.

He's right, 100 characters. Keep in mind that format is "<sender's e-mail address>|<subject, if any>|<message>". So, it's not 100 characters for just the message alone. Your account is the phone number you're given (<phone #>@skytel.com), but once you have an account you can set yourself up a custom address (<username>@skytel.com). If you do the latter, the phone # e-mail address is still valid (probably just forwards to it).

I was a real dork and created a form on my site where friends can fill in a text box and just hit Submit to bug me directly. ;)

I tried to stack the "MasterCard" and "Site Down" coupons but it did not work. After entering the first code (it can be either one) the "box" to enter coupon codes is removed. :(

Site home page works. Click on the "Internet Messenger Watches"
Then click on one to buy and you get.............

"Temporarily Inaccessible

For maintenance reasons, this area of the site is temporarily offline. We apologize for this inconvenience and hope to avoid this in the future. Thank you for your interest in Timex Online. And please visit us again soon.

Click here to return to our home page."

This site is very flakey. I think it is down as much as it is up.

I order first one this last Sunday and it shipped Monday. Still have not received it yet. Hopefully it shows up by end of the week.

I was thinking of ordering a second one for my son. Guess I will have to go to Skytel site to show him what they look like.

Went back to site again. They are now offering discount coupons if you leave your e-mail address.
