So you cannot receive instant messages, but just stock updates, weather, etc...It's not like you would be talking to a friend on your watch :)

A friend can send you messages, but you can't send any messages back. Good for wives to remind their husbands to pick up eggs on the way home from work.

You can receive instant messages on this watch. Just direct people to www.skytel.com and then they would enter your toll free number; ie "866-123-4567". You get the message in seconds.

This is not a two way communicator. What do you expect for $70.00 and one years free service?

There was a thread on this a couple of months ago. It was $99 at that time I believe.

Anyone know what the "service fee" will be for all the features after the one year free period is over?

I have this watch - works quite nicely, though i do occasionally miss a page. I reccomend the silver version. Besides the fact that it looks the best (IMHO) it seemed to be the most durable as well.

For you guys with the watch, how is it on batteries? What is the cost of replacements?

Check over at the "overweight billfold" site for a discount code that makes it $54 shipped! I just ordered one to activate in late December to replace the one I have already. I've been using mine for a few months now (on the second battery -- it comes with four batteries) and it's an unbelieveable deal. Just having my own toll-free number with voice mail makes it worthwhile. :D

It was a great deal at $99, even better now. If you set the pager to turn off at night, one battery will last about a month with moderate paging, less with more the pages received.

The batteries are hearing-aid batteries which come in a 4-pack for around $6, but I'm sure someone can find them for cheaper. The watch comes with one 4-pack to start with.

There are 3 different watches to choose from. Looks like the price dropped to $70 also (still with free shipping), might want to change the post title :)

Bah someone just told me the batteries only last 2 months?

Is this true? If so, that kills the deal for me.

I got mine for Fathers' Day.
My wife paid $90 for it at Wally World.
Even at that price, it's well worth it.
I love this thing.
I'm still on my first battery.
Toll-free voicemail with page notification and toll-free retrieval.
Receive e-mail, stock updates, news, etc.
Vibrating alerts.
No bigger than a standard "geek" watch.

For anyone with with a pager, it's a perfect replacement.
I still get the "You get pages on your watch?!?!!?!?!?" question all the time.
I return with a big geek grin.

Getting this thing for $70 or less makes it a killer steal.

I think the title might be incorrect.

First Class Shipping (7-10 day) is free on the timex site. Overnight shipping is around $7 extra.

With the mastercard coupon code, this is a killer deal. My wrist will be getting new geek jewelry.
