Some stores have typos on this item. Actually it is sold for $49.99 from Nov.-Jan. Three weeks ago, it return to $89.99. Strange.

I called other OD not too far from me, they have the card listed for $89.99 as well. Seems you just have to be lucky and find a store stupid enough to still have the clearance price on the shelf and point it out to them when it rings up $89.99.

However, I haven't been able to the find the $20 MIR that was mentioned...any links for that? Would be greatly appreciated.

I got a Studio PCTV card about a year ago from VA for about $15 it was a great deal. The TV part worker fine. I had some trouble trying to capture video though. I wish I had a remote to go with mine :)

loudmouth - I picked it up at for $39.99 at one of the B&M OD closing in Columbus, OH. A rebate would sure make this a little more "hot" of a deal.

Istalled the card and all - no problems, this is pretty damn cool! Now I have a extra TV, FM Radio and VCR in my bedroom. Hmmmm, what can you do with web access,a nice high quality intel web cam pro, some Video Factory (Sonic Foundry)software, TV and digital VCR...

I may have to start a website... :p (j/k actually but it sounds "fun")

:)

Actually the Pinnacle is superior in image quality compared to the ati, but that was in my case with my geforce 2 gts on an Appleview theatre flat panel. The latest software update from pinnacle allows for tv magazine and the digital vcr was already there. not only that but unlike the ati, I get to choose my compression rate. Of course I always choose divx/mpeg4. And the 2nd most important feature...getting up to change the channel or using the remote. ATi lacks this too and just is not worth the money. But for support, ATI rocks any other competitor straight down.

How do you encode in mpeg4 in real time? My 700MHz computer only manages 6fps when compressing from dvd(mpeg2) to mpeg4...

There is an .ini file in the remote control profiles directory under program files. You edit this .ini file and add in names of new programs in between brackets. Then add in keynames and some code for the keys. The .ini file itself makes for a decent tutorial as it includes all the current keymappings for the studioTV application itself. Basically the file simply maps keyboard keystroke combinations to remote control buttons. This is obviously an advantage over sending special IR signals to your computer since the keystrokes can be received and used by any application. There is a word document in the same directory which should list the possible key names and some basic instructions. One note, make sure the program name you put in brackets is EXACTLY as it appears on your taskbar. If you open a program and it has one name, then open a file within the program (such as in Microsoft Word) and the taskbar name changes slightly, then keystrokes entered in the .ini file under the original name will not function. I suppose for hardcore people, this could be used to your advantage to allow full tweaking flexibility. Here's a short exerpt from mine that I made for Eudora. It allows me to switch mailboxes in Eudora by hitting number buttons and check mail. The long string of downs (I apologize for the width of post) is to scroll a page as I could not get page up and page down to work right. All my program entries also contain listing for ALT+F4, which closes them :
