Now, I loved Sprint up till now. The service has always been great for me, but if they are going to start renewing my contract everytime, I upgrade my phone, then theres no reason for me to stay anymore.

calng - I switched my sprint phone 5 times over the last two months and didn't pay a fee once, and didn't have to extend a contract either. This is the trick:

1) call from your existing sprint phone (*2 for customer service). You get connected to the existing customers customer service.
2) say this: "hi, i just got my old phone back from repair, and I need to switch my service back to it"

That's it. The trick is to call *2 from an existing phone (I think it's two different versions of their customer service) as opposed to calling an 1-800 number, and not say it's a new phone, but conversly tell them that it's a phone thats returned from repair.

I'm not exaggerating - I did this 5 times, on one line, over the last month. And my contract is expiring in December, and it hasn't been extended, nor did I pay their $35 fee.

I'm going to call and try what this thread is saying, I want to get out of my contract so that when the new Treo 600 comes out I can get their retention dept to sponsor it :)

edit: oh yeah, check out sprintusers.com if you haven't.

hmm...didnt make sense at first, but I read it twice, and the second time made sense. Nice, but pretty tricky hehe. I'll give that a try next time. Im just sick of making excuses so they wont charge me activation fee and renew my contract. Just doesn't make sense too, since Im just upgrading the phone, but the contract!

we should start another forum for teezle and his "special" friends.

Is this still doable? I am thinking about it but it seems kind of hard to deal with because I have a retention plan and the reps I talked to in the store is not letting me use it for a share minutes plan.

Yes I did read that. BTW I have replaced just too many phone even without the microwave. for the past year I have had about 3 A500 replaced. Sprint is getting really reluctant to replace my phone because my account is showing too many activity.

I really would like to get rid of my contract and my brothers contract. We have both separate accounts.

Yes only if you add a second phone. This is no Hot Deal. Why would you add a second phone and then start a new 2 year contract for the 2 phones? LOL Delete this stupid thread.

Here's an example of a dumb ass. Someone who cannot or does not understand the potential of this information and yet wastes absolutely no time in calling the thread stupid and saying that it should be deleted.

Edit: Even more interesting is how a dumb ass tends to equate post count to intelligence.

As soon as Clocker started the explanation, you could see how it was going to work. I don't know what that one guy's problem was. Usually some one who misses the obvious, and makes a fool out of himself, apologizes instead of escalating the stupidity.

Teezle you sure are being an asshole.

What is with that quote in your sig? Is that a mod confirming your asshole-like state?

Just because you don't understand something doesn't mean you have to discredit the poster, and also just because someone has only 203 posts and you have 1800, that doesn't discredit them either.

I have more posts than you, does that mean I am superior? Thats the way you think, so wash my dishes, bitch.

Does anyone know of any att contract changes that have just happened or that are getting ready to happen. We are really unhappy with our att service and would love to switch providers.

There was a time about a year ago when they changed their policy to charge you for airtime if you stay on the line for more than 30 seconds letting the phone ring when the other party doesn't pick up. They sent out a notice stating that we could get out of our contracts. Let's hope for a LNP fee or something. I like AT&T, but being able to cancel lets you get in on awesome new customer deals.

Yeah I remember about a year ago when that happened but at that point we liked att and even switched to gsm recently. That of course binded us to a new contract but at the time it wasn't a big deal. I just moved recently though and can't get any reception in my house at all. I have to go out on the front porch to get even 1 bar if I'm lucky. ATT doesn't care, ATT's customer support is really bad too. So the first chance we get we are bolting

I found this thread to be very informative and helpful! I have sprint, but my aunt has Verizon. Any recent changes to the contract for Verizon? She would like to get out of the Verizon contract.

I don't think they will let you cancel, even if its for a contract terms change reason, and then restart service. They have a 6 month time period that if you sign back up during it then you are considered a previous customer and aren't eligible for anything.

I wonder, if there is a contract change soon, and we are able to get out of our contracts will they let us take our numbers with us even if we are cancelling because of lnp. I think that lnp doesn't come into effect until november sometime does it, so if they update their terms soon and we get out can we make them save our number until the lnp does go into effect and then let us pay for our numbers

Try to switch back to TDMA, that helps sometimes. If you don't like it just return it and your contract extension becomes void. The other thing some people do is switch to a $19.99 plan until expiration.

About cancelling and restarting, there is a limitation of 3-6 months. But you can start a second line with a new customer promotion and cancel the old line.

Same here only with sprint As it stands now sprint sucks so bad I have to call and request a dropped call credit for EVERY call I make or receive, and I call CS 3 times a day (for 2 weeks now) and talk to them about letting me out of my contract... They won't budge, I have just been trying to annoy them into letting me out but, they are Sticking until January....

gonna see if I can make this work even thought I already have the 2nd phone... maybe the nuber portability fee will work... Thanks for the tips..

what if my plan already has a 2nd line, could i call them up and complain and say I am wanting to add a 3rd line now, but do to the new terms I refuse because of the contract extention being mandatory?
