Sony Generic XM receiver (works with any audio system)

It comes with an audiocassette adapter (poop), but it uses a generic headphone output - so you can hook it up to anything with an adapter.

Rebate valid till March 31, 2003 - so hurry up!

BTW, XM is $9.99 a month - so not hot if you don't want to pay that

Do you have any other specifics on this deal? I think you had to get an antenna for xm also. Do they require you to commit for 1 year of service? etc etc...

My mp3 unit is pretty sweet! I also jumped on the bandwagon for the free sirius receiver and fm modulator. So i will have it in 5 days :D.

Free sub. The only hack for XM is to clone the tsop of sony units. Someone still has to pay, but you can have many units going. Takes programming and tsop removal and replacement ability. You need to use an old DISH receiver. Go with the delphi and the need to clone is lessened.

Well from what I've seen, it looks like an antenna is required. The cheapest antenna I've seen so far is about $70, so I dunno if this is a real hot deal unfortunately. If the receiver included an antenna and you weren't required to sign up, this would be an awesome deal.

Yes, you'll have to pay $20 per month unless you feel like hauling the radio all the time. That's the #1 reason for hacks. Link, anybody?

Not hard to find, google it. Hope you have some DISH IRDs lying around and are good with JTAG. I would also suggest that you do not drink coffee for a month.

One of my units is a Sony -- the first one they came out with that you can transfer from in house to the car. I use it for house only, but if you have two antenna and power hookups (One in your car and one in your house) then you can use this one for both.

But I have since then gotten a really nice Pioneer deck and I use this in-house only.

Multiple unit discount from XM. Second units are now $6.99 a month. Details HERE, about half way down. Now less reason for a hack. Very nice. Thanks XM. By the way, XM subs now close to 500k.

EDIT to change the face, now smiles

Well, I have a universal Sirius unit with standard RCA line output jacks (Jensen), and also a Kenwood XM unit with FM Modulator, both new and unactivated until I decide what to use. Anyone want to trade either of them for one of these Sony's? tech@(nospam)busdepot.com

XM just announced a new "Family" deal, starting in April, where the 2nd receive will only cost $6.99 a month. So as of April, if you have 2 receivers, it will cost $16.98 (+tax) a month.

And lay off the hacking, it's lame.
