hey aznbruin03.. i heard these are just like palm v's... execpt it's got a slot for sony memory sticks and supports pictures so you can transport pictures you take from digi cams and display them on your clie

i heard that is not too great from the reviews. $399 was a way too high price so they have been cutting it lately.

whats strange is that in asia and europe they alreayd have color model, i dont understand

hm.. Just checked on e-b-a-y, they go for like 300-350.. If they're exactly like the palm v, its not a bad deal. I got a palm vx for xmas, so i don't need one of these anytime soon. The color one looks interesting though.

As of Jan. 1 Sony has a $50 MFG rebate, plus a free leather case for them HERE!, If the Goodguys gift cert is on top of that this is a screaming hot deal. In fact, if office depot sells them for $299 thats a great deal too as $399-350 is the going price. These are just like the Palm VX except have an 8 meg memory stick for storage in addition to the built in 8 meg. The only downside is they have a proprietary connection on the bottom so they don't work with a lot of palm accessories (keyboards etc.)

Gift certificate from Good Guys is because of 200% pricematch guarantee for the holidays. Anything you find cheaper somewhere else they'll pricematch and give an extra 100% of the difference in the form of a gift certificate you get in the mail. Have to wait 6 to 8 weeks, so you'll still have to pay $400 upfront. Still a good deal if you don't mind waiting.

The Sony Clie gets good reviews. They love the screen, the jog/shuttle button and ability to add memory. It is size and weight comparable to the Palm V series. If I didn't have the Vx I would get in on this. THe only drawback that was already pointed out is few after market hardware items for it yet. The software is the same.

Great Find.. to bad we don't have a good guys my way

I'm waiting until Q2 2001 when Sony releases the Color version in the US. It'll be better than it is now and more peripherals will come out for the Clie. But still a good price for the Clie.

I checked it out myself at the Sony Style store in Manhattan--it's much thicker than the Palm V, and I didn't think the screen was as good, but then I haven't spent much time with either. On the plus side, it comes with the Memory Stick's extra 8MB RAM, and you can't beat the price.

My local Office Depots along with the website says $349. I guess it must be local deal for those who get it.

Sony probably didn't release the color version here because of the LCD screen shortage. In Asia, it's only a little more than the monochrome version, so everyone picked up the color version. I think Sony is suppose to release in Q1, not Q2... but they might have pushed it back. The CLIE is a little narrower but thicker, the screen is slightly smaller but resolution is upped a bit because of that...

Other than that... that's a great price for it...

Sony pushed it back to Q2 for the release of the color. The size of the screen is the same as any of the Palm. The only reason it looks smaller is because the Clie screen is edge to edge while the Palm has a bit of a border.

Anyone know if the Clie's USB cradle is travel size or not (not = Palm V cradle)? IE is it a cable or an actual big plastic cradle.

Also, does the battery charge while in the cradle like the Palm V?

No Good Guys in Denver (correct me if I'm wrong) but even at $234 it seems mighty tempting.

Is the $15 B&M coupon for Office Max a postcard or I can I find it online?

Thanks all!
