I believe this is hot but correct me if I'm wrong

I went to the Tempe, AZ Fry's electronics to purchase a microsd card but was sidetracked when I saw the 750 GB seagate barracudas with 16 mb buffer stacked up for 109.99 each!

I splurged and bought one.

Linkage

Edit: I just opened the box and it looks like this drive says 7200.11 on it.

hmm I'm in Tempe, but Frys' website says "price good for online purchase only". So they'll charge for shipping. Newegg's offer is a 7200.11 w/ 32mb cache and it comes down to $120 shipped - no tax for me of course. Then again, it's OEM and Frys' is retail. bwaaaah confusing LOL

Yeah it does say online only however when I went to the store I saw a pretty decent sized pile of these drives sitting around under a 109.99 price tag. I even asked a few store reps there if it was a typo because the drive has 189.99 printed on the label, I thought there was no way in hell that fry's decreased the price that much.

Yep, it's true. Yesterday (memorial day) Fry's B&M also had Maxtor 750GB SATA retail boxed drives on sale for $99. For those who may not know, in those boxes you can find rebadged Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 drives with 32MB cache. The only real difference being the Maxtor branded drives carry a 3-yr warranty instead of a 5-yr warranty since Seagate is positioning the Maxtor name as their value brand. Those were an excellent deal. A week ago during Fry's anniversary sale they had the Samsung F1 750GB SATA drives with 32MB cache on sale for $99 as well. If you missed either of those deals then this is still a good deal on a nice 750GB SATA drive if you need one today. On the other hand if you can wait a few days you can find a bit better deals online after factoring in tax and shipping as jjmIII pointed out, or possibly a better deal from Fry's itself again sometime soon.
