Awesome, just ran out and got one. $60 is a pretty good deal, but $30 is awesome. I had to buy another ink cartridge anyway, which costs the same amount... so why buy ink when you can buy a new printer WITH ink? o_O

are the toner cartridges more than the printer?

if they're reasonable, i might pick one of these up.

Yes, by far. They go from $80-90, but you can't think of them like an inkjet cartridge. They last for a LONG time just on normal printing, and this printer has an 'ink saver' mode that seems to last a while. You can also find the cartridge on ebay and such for around $50 if you wanted to do that too.

We have a few of these at work. They come with a 1000 page starter cartridge.

I have bought toner for them off eBay and you can fill them yourself for aroung 6-7 each. They come with fuses that are inserted in the cartridge to reset the printer so you can use them.

If you don't like filling them you can get filled cartridges off eBay for 26.00 shipped. Otherwise be prepared to pay 70-80 for a 3k cartridge from Officemax, Office Depot or Staples.

How does this MaxPerks bonus work? Is it an instant discount at checkout or is it like a card that you can use later toward a different purchase?

It's a rewards program, and you get $30 credited towards your rewards account. I'm not sure what you do from there, but it certainly isn't an instant rebate in any way.

It's supposedly added to your Maxperk account for the next monthly cycle. I think you should be able to access that reward the following month. (December). I just get the rewards printed from my account when I have the minimum of 25.00. For regular purchases you have to accumulate 500.00 in qualified purchases and then they deposit 25.00 in your Maxperk account. You can just print out the reward and bring the paper to the store and redeem it.

I remember when I had the chance to get this laser printer and I did only because I could sell it for profit.
It was selling for $20(twenty, yes) at Staples but I chose to get the HL-2170W for $50 instead for my own personal use.
The toner prices were a complete turn off for me.

I looked and was seeing $60+ everywhere.
I checked the TN-360 catridge for the HL-2170 and saw it selling for $35-40. I was able to snag 3 toners selling for about $24 shipped each on memorial day.

I think this is a warm deal. If you need a laser now, get it.
If not, you can get this when it's selling for $20 usually at Staples after discounts.
