pure speed wise, the 840 pro > intel 520. the question is whether the extra 60gb is more important to you than the speed.

You should have gotten a 256GB Samsung 830 Pro for $160-200 depending on where you looked.

100k or 60k IOPS, you wouldn't tell a difference so you did not make a mistake. Neither have I.

You should have gotten a 256GB Samsung 830 Pro for $160-200 depending on where you looked.

830 or 840? I didn't know there was a 830 pro. Haven't seen a 256 840 pro anywhere near $160 either.

Sorry, I meant the 830.
There's no "pro" or "non-pro" version of the 830.

830 256GB has been on sale weekly at different places over the past 4 months.

This is probably a "memory and storage" topic but since it pertains to this drive - what's w/ the rated write speed being significantly lower on the 128GB versions of this drive? On the box, and on the Samsung site, it shows "sequential write speed" for the 128GB version of 390MB/s. Comparing to the 256GB version showing 520MB/s.

It's still faster than the non-Pro 840 (130MB/s) and a little faster than the 830 (320MB/s) when looking at the 128GB versions.

Probably a safe bet that it's not something a human would notice in daily usage, but it's a little disappointing. Figured I was getting one of the fastest (affordable) drives possible for my new build, now I'm thinking I should have just gone with a cheaper 830.
