Ritek is the manufacturer and Ridata is Ritek's own brand name., which are very good disks. Never had an issue with Ridata/Ritek disks but you also have to know exactly what your getting. Not sure if these are G05's or not.
G04's are usually 4x speed related.
Hummm, bashing of Ridata? I'm on my third 100 pack of Ridata DVD's and they are perfect. Approximately 225 DVD's from 4x to 16x media burned with 100% success on two different burners. They suck huh? LOL

Maybe you quoted the wrong person, you are both on the same page.

Ritek/Ridata is not hit or miss if you know exactly what your buying, just have to do your homework is all, esp figuring out what is the best disk for the burner you have.
Never had a single problem using Ritek/Ridata with Optorite or Benq burners myself.
I agree, Americans are so lazy that the word Japanese or Japan no longer exist. How can living in america be of equality if people are treated differently due to differences in culture and skin color? This name calling has got to stop, it degrade others and makes fun of them. America no longer produce anything of value, it is a nation that has lost all it's productivity and is now just service oriented. Everyone here is just doing each other's laundry for a living, our economy are next to crap, now that's really bad. The same happened to the roman empire as well during the fall of roman. I think manufacturing jobs shifting over seas are good for the corporation but are bad for everyone including Americans who today are suffering from loss of a well paying job.Originally posted by: RezMN
"Jap" can be a racist comment. Please be aware. (I am Japanese).

These seem like a decent deal, assuming they're the TYs that are good. What do you all think?

Do you take PI/PO/PIF Error Scans of your discs after you burn them? Do you scan them again 6 months, 1 year, even 2 years later??
The fact is, people who do take these scans, and then keep track of them to compare to scans they take later - find that not only is Ritek Media fairly inconsistent on quality, they also have fading quality over time.
Sure, I'm sure you can burn without coasters, and have good enough burns to watch that movie after its burned. But give it a year or two. Personally, I refuse to have media thats so poorly made it won't last a year. Most of the people that have done extensive testing, found that RITEKR03 media can go bad, and get unreadable sectors within 6 months to a year. As far as RITEKR04 goes, well it hasn't been around long enough for such longevity tests. Not all RiTEK or RiDATA media is RITEK, so if you have got good scans, that media is probably RICOH. And if you have RITEK discs, do the tests yourself. I have a friend that personally did this, burned 5 discs with different kinds of data. Wrote the actual errors on the discs themselves, then checked them about every 3 months for a year. Every disc degraded somewhat, showing more errors over time. And 1 of them had huge blocks of data that were completely unreadable after a year.
Take what I have to say, or leave it. I am only trying to help people who read these threads. I don't say it often, but the fact is when it comes down to this sort of thing - I know what I'm talking about. The things I burn are more important to me. I'd rather spend a lot of my time researching, testing, and spending more out of pocket for better media to ensure my data survives as time goes on.
