I was just browsing through restaurant.com for certificates for lunch.

Selected Eva's Mexican Restaurant in Hosuton TX...$10 certificate...but shows up as $0.00 instead of the advertised $3

Probably YMMV..but worth trying...

Once you confirm your address and all...the processing page takes a while...might get stuck...but keep trying...I am!!

Hope it goes through ....

If anyone else is successful...please post. Thanks!

=========

Edit: seems their servers are working properly again. :(

Even then...there's a 70% code out there...most ever!!!
Am a n00b...dunno if its ok to post codes....so have a look at D2B for it :)

(Hint: its a 6 letter word....starts with C_ _ _ _ _ ...you use it at the end of a toast :p)

Is there a guarantee that these certificates will be accepted? I want to buy but I am a little hesitant because they might get rejected. Anyone used this service before?

Ive used them 3-4 times at 3 different places...always worked for me.

Even I was a little hesitant before I bought em....but thankfully it all worked out well.

If it makes you feel any better...call up the place and confirm.

this what??

I think their system was having problems for a lil bit...when the certificates were showing up to be for $0....but its back to its normal self now :(

However, the 70% off is still valid...for quite a few restaurants....go check their site to find places near you. And this 70% seems to be after their already low prices!!

Example...they sell $10 certs for $ 3....apply an extra 70% off...you get it for 90cents!!!

And like InverseOfNeo mentioned...there's a possibility of an extra 12% off

This is an insane deal.... "cheers"

just so everyone knows these come with stipulations:
usually $25 gift certificate for $10(maybe discounted down to $3 or 0)
you have to spend $50 usually
sunday thru thursday
alcohol might not be included and tip 18% minimum on the bill before the certificate

every place should accept them that is on there, they put themselves up

i've used it a lot and i love it. its damn nice to get a 23 oz ribeye another entree and an appetizer and a couple beers for $30 with tip

I just checked this out, wanting to try the "cheerful" discount code here in the Seattle area. I found two favorite restaurants in the 15-mile radius and added a $25 certificate for $10, for each. When I looked at the cart and added the discount code, I found that one was $3 instead of $10 and the other was $0 !!

Needless to say, I went back and added another three of each, for a total of $12 for all eight.

YMMV, but check any restaurant you might consider eating at. And don't forget, some of these have breakfast and lunch you might enjoy. It's not just for dinner anymore!

There is one restaurant (more of a sports bar) within 150 miles, and it has the stipulation of a minimum $35 purchase for every $25 coupon, a party of at least 2, and can only be used once every 30 days. Not much of a deal for my part of the country.

Not that I see the above poster complaining about tipping, but I find it funny he brought up the min tip as if it is a problem. It seems most people don't realize there is only 8 states in which a server makes more than 2.13 an hour. Also of your tip to a server, the server does not see all of it. They still have to tip their busser, bartender, and/or expediter. Usually a server misses out on 2-3% of whatever you tip them right off the top. It is also funny to see when people tip because their food took "too long". There are circumstances in which this is going to happen and is outside of the waiters control, it's not like waiters cook the food. These are things people should consider when tipping. A good rule of thumb is 15% for lunch and 20% for dinner.

I can understand that servers are working for the tips and they only make a minimal amount of wage to start, but to require 18% or any tip is absurd. Servers have to earn their tip. You mentioned food taking too long or other circumstances where there are delays or a guest being unhappy with the food. It is the responsibility of the server to attend to the guests and try to make the experience enjoyful even during these delays or other problems. The server, whether the food is good or the food was slow/cold, is what is the glue that holds the customer to the restaurant. I used to work in a upscale restaurant that prides itself on service to the guest. It is what keeps the people coming in. I have seen too many places where the servers do not care about the guests and I tip accordingly. If the service is horrendous, they get a minimal tip (10%) or if it is great, they get a much more substantial tip (30% or more). SO to require a minimum tip is rediculous. If the server knows they will already get that 18%, then most of the time the server will not be out to earn more. Gratuity should NEVER be automatically added to a check. I do not care how many people are in the party.

This is a great deal. I just bought 3 $25 gift certificates to Brio here in Atlanta for $12.00 with the 60% off code floating around!

Spending $35 will not be a problem at all and 20% tip is what I leave anyway.

I'm a cheap bastard... just used my $150 free credit from the sony card to buy these GC's LOL.

The restaurant industry is screwing both their employees and their customers by refusing to pay reasonable wages. They foist those expenses upon the patrons, who are then supposed to feel obligated to tip for sub-standard service.

Crutching a broken system is just another form of support. The only way this will ever change is if people begin to tip fairly, without sentiment or apology.

These use to have less restrictions, but often times now there are heavy restrictions on how and when to use the GC that the savings are small.
Once I had bought one of their GC, and the restaurant wouldn't accept it! Very embarrassing since I was kinda of on a date at the time and didn't have the cash to even pay for the full meal. Eventually they called their "manager" to accept it.
It was definitely a bad experience and my last (not to mention the restaurant's food was poor, not even worth it with the discount factored in).

I went to the very nice Brio last night in Dunwoody, GA and used my $25 off GC. No questions asked. We ate Veal and Chicken Parmigana, had 2 new castle beers, and the mgr gave us free dessert b/c it took an extra 5 minutes to get our food out.

Total meal including tip out the door - $32
Tab was $22 and I left a $10 tip. Can't beat this deal.

My girl and I go bulk restaurant.com shopping when prices are 50% off or more. We use 1 if not 2 EVERY weekend in the NYC area. Gotta love it!!
