I have had one of these mp3 players since they first came out. I like it alot. I use it at the gym all the time. Only one drawback. Not compatible with Windows XP. Unless RCA has updated (since I bought it last year) their Music Match software that is included to download the mp3s to the player, you are limited to Windows 2k, 98, millenium.
Still, this is a very sweet mp3 player.

Nope! SD cards are much thicker then MMC cards, and won't fit into MMC slots. You can, however, use MMC cards in SD lots, but that won't help you here.

I've got one of these MP3 players and I really like it. Super small. Gets REALLY loud for such a small device. I had a little trouble getting it to work initially with XP, however, once I found out that musicmatch has a plugin that lets it work with the Kazoo, and musicmatch is, of course, compatible with XP, no problems since.

The only downside is that it seems to only take MMC & that it only can be expanded to 96mb (32mb internal + 64mb max external).

I have one. One and half year ago, I sent e-mail to Europe Thomason questioning the max MB (US RCA really did not help at all), 96MB was the answer I got. Today, it makes more sense buying a Compact Flash base player, MMC cards are still too pricy.

I really like it; although it does freeze when you have a bad file.

I have one of these...used it today at the gym as a matter of fact. It DOES use 128MB MMC cards. I have 160MB of memory in mine right now. This is a great little MP3 player, it doesn't have any fancy features, but for woring out it is perfect.

It does work with XP but the players sucks. I purchased a few of these on clearance at target for $39.99 but they sucked so bad I ebayed them and barely got my $39 back.

Not hot but at least it is a source:

LiveWarehouse

64 MB $32.99 +S

eCost has MMC cards as follows:

128 MB $72.30
That is very steep compared to other media types.

So, bottom line for a 96 MB MP3 player is $72.98 +S for the card

Just found a much better deal:

Amazon has a 64 MB MMC for 29.99 and there is a $5 off $25 available. Don't ask me to send it to you... look a little and it will be revealed.

That puts a 96MB player at $64.98 now that is a little more respectable.

BTW the 128 MB Card is 66.95 and there is a $10 off $75 available (same terms as above).

If you boost your cart to $75, that puts the price for a 160 MB player at $96.94. You be the heat judge on that one.

looks pretty good compared to the d-link deal awhile back. this player is much more stylish although I agree
with above post concerning going with compact flash tech, seems to be much cheaper per mb.

also, what up KevlarCC

Sucks?! This is a fantastic mp3 player, and I've used many. It's perfect for biking or working out (it's incredibly small... pics don't do it justice). Sound quality is awesome. You just can't be it for the price.

My wife and I have had two of these for over a year and really like them. For the record, I have a $6000 stereo (Mirage M5si speakers/Hafler 9505 amp/Adcom 565 preamp/etc...) and a pretty good pair of ears.

1. Music match software works in XP, no problem.

2. Unit uses to AAA batteries. I use rechargables from Thompson and they last a good while, never measured it but I'd say 6 hours or so, depending on how loud you listen.

3. Sound quality is very good, more dependent on source bitrate and HEADPHONES! Headphones that come with this unit are terrible. They sound bad and are uncomfortable. I like the Sony back of the head style ones.

4. If you encode using VBR your songs will play fine but the time counter on the unit will move faster than realtime, not really a big deal since the song plays fine. Constant bitrate plays fine on counter readout.

5. Unit comes with a armstrap thing for running, biking etc... My wife uses the strap, I just hold the unit in my hand when running.

6. I've had my over a year with no problems (running, mountain biking, on the beach). My wife ruined hers in a downpour (it got soaked, not just damp!), I got a warranty refund on it from Thompson.

Bottom line, great unit for the price, more expensive units don't do much more except make you poorer. I may buy a back up unit since I've invested in 64MB cards for both units.

Hope this helps.

Is your model is a Kazoo with a base mem of 64mb instead of the 32mb version?
