Good luck with that. They will not price match it, and I doubt they will let you buy it back on the spot. However, if you come back in about an hour or so when it's back on the shelf, I don't see how they would be able to refuse.
If I wanted to ship an item like this, I would "double box" it (i.e., put it in a box suitable for shipping with appropriate packing material) -- the same way that items are shipped by reputable online stores like NewEgg. That way, the retail box is nice and clean and undamaged, and there's much less chance of damage to the keyboard.
I don't think that you have seen this box. I'd ship it that way. This box seems to be already doubled. There is a flap on the 'face' that is the full size of the box that is held shut with velcro, when you open that flap you basically get another box with a window to see another cardboard 'face' with a window showing some keys. I probably did a bad job of explaining it, but this seems to be packaged rather well. When you open the box and slide out the 'sub-box', within that, there is cardboard spacers to absorb shock or impacts before they'd get to the keyboard.
Actually, I have seen the box. You missed my point. You can ship it that way if you don't want to double-box it. I'm just saying that I wouldn't do it.
I hope you tape the flap shut instead of relying on the Velcro to keep it shut. In fact, I hope you seal all of the edges with tape. Some of the boxes in the stores looked all nice and pretty, but most of them were damaged just from being moved around in the store. The unsecured edges have a tendency to catch on things, so they get pulled open and torn. The box is a bit overstuffed, causing it to bulge, which has a tendency to make the edges of the package more vulnerable because it makes them even easier to catch on things.
