Hot Question - Mushkin Labor Day Sale

Hey, I was just reading the AT price guide and noticed this at the bottom of the mem page:

In fact, we just got confirmation from Mushkin that they will be holding an OEM overproduction special Labor Day weekend on their website only. It looks like they will be selling discount 512MB sticks of DDR PC3200 (2-2-2) Green. For you memory connoisseurs, this special memory is produced on Winbond BH-5 chips.

This sounds like some awesome memory, but i'm confused about the "Green" reference. According to the Mushkin sight, Green is their value RAM whereas the high perf (2-2-2) RAM is the "Black" line. Anybody know anything about this?

Currently got the Abit IS7 board with some Corsair XMS PC3200 (2-3-3) and have a lot of problems getting the Corsair to run at SPD. At 200MHz it only runs at 2.5-3-3. Will the Winbond chips solve this or will I have the same damn problem with the Mushkin?

Thanks,

joe

I don't know and why the heck are you posting this info here? This is a tech question, not a 'hot deal'.

oh, give me a break. i'm so sick of all the self-appointed forum police around here. this is potentially a hot deal - a discount on some high quality ram. the only question is how hot the deal will be, depending on what kind of price break mushkin offers - it may be hot or tepid. so shoot me, i actually asked a question in addition to posting info about a deal.

Mushkin is Colorado based and it appears their ram ratings typically mimic ski run ratings. Green circle = beginner, blue square = intermediate and black diamond = expert/advanced

I ordered some ram from mushkin several months ago and they sent me a 10% off coupon for a summer promotion. Too bad it will probably end before this labor day sale starts.

Mushkin Green uses memory based on "market price". Very unlikely to get Winbond BH-5, more likely to get the flavor-of-the-day.

thanks dubya, that's the info i was looking for. still, i'm in denver too, i might just drop by their office on friday and see if i can get 'em to give me a deal on some double black. i was thinking their scheme seemed kind of like ski slope grading!
