Polaroid $45 Digital Camera

This looks really cool. I would have picked one up except it doesnt work with XP. Only $45 is hard to beat. Resolution is 640x480 at 24 bit color. I am a semi-pro photographer (all film, since the only digital models approaching film quality are $5000+) but this would be a great way to get the advantages of digital at a nice low price. Something to keep in mind, digital cameras are outdated almost quicker than computers themselves (see Business 2.0 latest article "Why your digital camera is already outdated") so if you're just looking for a camera for "fun" as I would want a digital cam for, to take on trips, etc. you don't want to spend a lot of money. Just my personal info. Make your own decision and buy if you like.

For those considering this camera: be warned! This is a toy. I have this camera, I bought it at staples on clearance for $25. The pictures are extremely fuzzy at any distance and the color is very bad. I guess this is cool for a young child to play with, but for anyone else it's a waste of money in my opinion.

only cameras 1 megapixel and below are outdated... if u have 1.3mp and above u'll be fine for plenty of time and furthermore higher resolution cameras chew up flash memory cards like yesterday. batteries too

When's the last time you looked at digital cameras? You can get photo quality out of almost any camera these days. And XFreebie is right...any camera 1MP and up will never be outdated because at that resolution you can print out 4x6's at photo quality (which is what most people want anyway). My 3.3MP Olympus will do perfect 8x10's, with resolution so fine I can see the peach fuzz on my wife's arms!

I got the Polaroid I-Zone digital combo cam from a Christmas deal, and it's atrocious. If this camera is anything like it, it's not worth the headaches.

As far as digital cameras being outdated, so what? The old one will still get the job done. If not, set a price/quality point for yourself, and buy a camera when it reaches that. Personally, I'm going to get a digital camera when it can meet these criteria:

1. 2.1 megapixels or higher
2. $150 or less
3. Cheap memory storage (ie compactflash)
4. INTEGRATED LENS COVER! How cheesy is it that cameras cost hundreds of dollars, yet some manufacturers can't be bothered to put a .0002 cent piece of plastic over the lens. Sometimes I think it's a ploy to help Best Buy sell more PSPs.

Will I eventually find a camera to meet these? Yes. It might take a few months, but I have no pressing need to buy one.

Look elsewhere if you want any functionality....the small price difference for the CC camera or the cheap fuji is well worth it.
