Hot Pixels? Stuck Pixels? Dead Pixels? GHOST Pixels????

OK...since last night I've been noticing something REALLY weird w/ my screen. It first started when I was watching some videos in VLC (.ogm format). Usually at dark points, massive amounts of what looks like hot pixels would appear. These pixels were bright blue in color, and kinda flashed on and off pretty quick. Also, they weren't exactly in fixated positions on the monitor itself, but rather the VIDEO. So, for example, if there was a patch of these hot pixels around the left side of the video...if I moved the video window around, the hot pixels would still be around that area. Example Picture.

Then, while I was viewing a a post by Fuzzybabybunny and looked at one of the pictures, the same thing happened. What's weird is, if I saved the picture and then viewed it, it was normal. Example Picture.

I really don't know what these are. Everything is normal otherwise, and if I use something like Dead Pixel Buddy to check for dead pixels, everything's fine (except for what looks like 1 tiny dead pixel on the bottom right side). I've just restarted my computer, and set the monitor back to factory defaults and also got rid of the monitor profile, and things seem normal for now. If someone can help me out I'd greatly appreciate it!

***UPDATE***

OK, well the problem has not re-occurred, except for one quick flash during startup of CS:S.

Also, I came across this thread by chance, and it might be what's wrong? The guy in the thread said something about weird "artifacts", and someone suggested to check the monitor was not being treated as a TV in the driver configs. Well, I checked my NVidia control panel, and there was a CHECKED box that said "Treat as HDTV"!! Not sure if this is it...or if it has any effect...since I'm pretty new to the LCD scene. Anyway, I hope this will be the solution.

***UPDATE***

Well the problem is still there. I did some more googling, and I think this problem is called "RTC side effects (overshoot)"...which is how that stickie LCD thread on Anandtech worded it. I'm not sure though. Anyway, I think I'll have to exchange this...

Does it happen with other video formats, such as DVD (MPEG2)? I haven't seen that one on mine, but I have only played DVD and DIVX movies so far on mine.

I havn't tried DVDs yet. The problem occurrs randomly, so the next time it happens I'll try a DVD. Although from what I've experienced, it'll likely happen w/ the DVD as well. So far its happened while viewing images, watching videos, and games.

I just bought one yesterday and mine did the same thing twice

Once on exit of cs:s and once after it turned on from sleep mode.
Pulling the power plug and re-inserting it solves the problem...but if it does it again today I'm going to exchange mine.

PowerRanger-

I experienced this problem again today (second time in the 24 hours since I got the monitor). I just called OfficeMax to arrange for a replacement to be shipped to me.

Did you get a replacement? Does it have the same problem?

Most people are happy with this monitor. PowerRanger and I got ones with a glitch. I am exchanging it, as I mentioned above.

I can't get it replaced this week 'cause my local Office Max is out of stock...they're expecting new shipments next week so I'll probably try to get a replacement then.

Also, Mather, what is this "Enable write combining" you speak of? Where can I find this option? I have an Nvidia gfx card.

Count me in too. After replacing the first defective monitor, the second monitor was showing green sparkles when I played a DVD movie in Windows media player tonight. It was ok when I was using it for basic stuff including some games. I will try the suggested adjustments but if that does not work I will return it for a refund and not waste my time anymore. I'll get a Dell 24" LCD when they are on sale.

Pics 001 and 004 look ok but the other have the green sparkles.
