well the were willing to price match the 129(the receipt even prints 129 not 169 - 40) for me and on the inside I have a gf4ti4200 apg8x 6m sticker

its purple rather than read like the box displays.

I was trying to get them to price match the 99 bucks but they said the ad says Manufactor rebate so no.

but now that I know I have a beter card I'm gonna head to compusa buy theres, get the rebate take the unopen one to circuit city and get a refund.

worst case i'll pay 129.

So basically you got an 8x agp 64MB card? Since 8xagp is only marginally faster than 4x agp, I would say it isn't worth the effort. They probably are not making anymore 4x agp cards anyway........

oh well so is it a good deal 129 for 8x agp 64 meg ti 4200.

I might drive to compusa and hope I get lucky

worst case again I just return to circuit and pay 129 + 30 dollar rebate but I usually don't hope for them.

dont be so sure its a 64mb card. pop it in your computer and see what flashes on screen for VGA bios at post... i bet its 128mb

and the rebate is NOT a manufacturers rebate. or rather, it IS a Compusa exclusive rebate and you send the rebate to Compusa. print it out and take it to CC when you pricematch

FYI - My box said 64MB, but the ESD bag had a white sticker that said "128MB 8X" on it.

Also - tried to PM with CC and they refused to honor the rebate. Thought it would have been a nice deal at CC with the 110% PM. Oh well!

You can get the g4 4200 for $99 at best buy for those that can't afford $100 at once, you can pay in 24months.

Buy at bestbuy.com, and pricematch it with the compusa ad for a $130 net(they don't honor rebates).

But at compusa the card, and make a photocopy of the receit, and then return the card. Use the receit, and the UPC from the box you have from bestbuy, and thats it.

$99 in 24months

Is this card better than a Radeon 8500? Worth an upgrade?

Could someone who got a 128mb 8x card please post a PNY serial # or something off the box?

What are you 12? Who can't afford $130 some odd dollars. And to pay interest for 2 years and waste time paying $6 a month for 2 years (and chances are none of us will still have this card in 2 years). Also sending in a rebate for a returned item is borderlineing illegal behavior.

Are you guys who are getting the 128 8X's from CrapUSA getting the 444 speed the regular 128 does, or is it like the 64mb?

They track that by UPC at circuit city. If you send in the UPC on a returned item they will deny the rebate.

Err I have both boxes one from Circuit City and one from Compusa. Both have Identical UPCs. that's why its called Universal Product Codes.

I still see no way to track a product which as the same id as every one off the lot. If they scanned the card itself maybe, but when I installed my card there doesn't seem to be any S/N

You can use powerstrip (trial) to do that. Many gamers have it. I got mine from a link at Newgg in the reviews for the Visiontek GF2 GTS-V that was a hot deal last year. Google search can find you a bunch of places to get it. There is probably some other free apps to show that info as well.

I have been doing some checking, and it seems one page I found at Tom's Hardware using search there showed a table that listed an AGP 8X in both 64mb and 128mb. Also I see where this 128mb has had the speed bumped up to the same as the 64mb.

The deal would be better at CompUSA then, if all those cards are actually 128's.

CC has no restocking fee, but will they take back an opened box/installed already card with no hassle?

I read a comparison of 128 vs 64mb and it seems 128 do show an improvement in some situations, and will as new games like UT2003 come out. If the price is the same, it makes sense to grab the 128 over the 64.

okay man I found powerstrip

it shows Memory 513 mhz; Engine 250 mhz

well my CC took it back without hassle. my backup plan if they asked is its too big for my case. and it reality it is more my mini mini case. but most times they don't care.
