This deal is only good for one day only on 10/25/03.

EDIT: Use $30 of $150 coupon and get it for $169.99 + tax (Super HOT now)

I just want to know how certain this deal is. I can't find anything posted about it, not even on OM's website. I have to leave for Chicago at 8am Saturday, the store opens at 9am =( Trying to decide if I should make everyone wait 1 hr before leaving. If it's not so certain, we'll just be stopping at some OM off I-65 on the way.

Thanks for the help

Details on the lens of this camera from Amazon...

"All Lumix digital cameras are equipped with world-renowned Leica DC lenses to offer you the ultimate in digital photography and have a megapixel CCD (charged coupled device), which converts optical data into digital information. It lets you capture crisp, clear images in high resolution and helps bring out a full range of expressive color and detail. Venus Engine LSI Generates the luminance signal of the primary color CCD using all 3 colors (red, green, blue) for improved diagonal image resolution. The DMC-LC33 has a 3.34 total megapixel CCD. "

Important Update: I just called my local OM because I'm looking to get this sweet deal. They told me that you need a cupoun and that they are not giving them out on Saturday. I've never heard of this but they are telling me I need to go today or tomorrow and pick up a cupoun that can be redeemed on Saturday. Go figure but with Amazon's price at $269 it's worth it!

With a budget of $269 I would strongly recommend considering the awesome Canon PowerShot A70, it's also nice that the Canon uses CF instead of SD media.

Here is a side-by-side comparison of the Canon A70 vs Panasonic DMC-LC33.

Staples.com has the Canon PowerShot A70 for $269.99 after $30 off $150 coupon with free next day shipping in most areas.

Thanks for the extra info! I was actually looking at cameras in the $125-150 range (refurbed, used, ebay, or special sale prices).

Does anyone have some recommendations or specific deals in this price range? Another cosideration is the cost of storage (which is cheaper and still fast/quality/not going to disappear as a standard for at least 1 year)?

Also, anyone know any more about this "get a coupon before saturday" thing? What is that about and should I be running to OM right now?
Thanks!

Is there any other one for under $200??

In the $200 price range I would look at this Panasonic and compare it to the Canon PowerShot A60.

Good point because the Panasonic is $199 not $265. Looks like the Panasonic is best is image quality especially at 3.2 rather than Canon's 2.0.

Also, for RossMAN there is an HP 3.2 Wal-Mart exclusive for $178, search to find the thread on it.

Lastly, it looks like the deal at OM on this Panasonic is part of the family day deal, details here, Thread.

You don't even wanna get me started on what I think of HP or Kodak digicams :disgust:

My friend bought his parents the prior Panasonic model and they love it, other than poor indoor pics it does a great job.

Also check out the Fuji Finepix 2600 or 2650 if you can find one. Fuji's are AWESOME!!!

I'll vote for the A70, best camera + features within the price range! I'll post up some pix tonight but you can see some that I shot here.. MY gallery

Actually, if you check out RossMAN's comparsions it shows that the Panasonic has more features, a better screen resolution and potentially $100 cheaper. I have heard an great reviews on the Canon's but seems this is a no brainer. Canon does use CF where Pan uses SD, is there really any big difference in these two formats?

While I prefer Canon's CF media that isn't the only reason I'd buy the Canon. Personally I think it's a better overall digicam which takes excellent pictures indoors and outdoors. Does the Panasonic over video with audio up to 3 mins?

i wouldn't use any digicam for recording audio/video... the panasonic is lighter
but i like the s10 also -- going later to see if this panasonic has the laser sight also

Yep the Pan does video with audio time depends on the size of the card.

In addition to taking still photos, the DMC-LC33 can also record 320 x 240 movie clips at 10 frames per second with audio. Your video length is limited only by the size of your memory card.

Steve's digicam:
QuickTime Movie mode, 10fps w/sound, length limited by available memory

so how long on a 128mb stick hypothetically?

Also, what is a good price on a 128mb or 256bm stick?

Any more news about the "friends and family" part of this deal?

Yeah, go to the Friends and family thread that I posted earlier a few messages up. In that thread is the actual coupons that you can print out and take into the store.

Or as I said earlier, the OM people told me I could come in before Sat. and pick up the coupons.

The Olympus c-720, with 8X optical zoom, is also in the flyer, for $299. Is this a good deal? I've seen mixed reviews. I have a HP315 'point and shoot' now and I really like it, cause I'm too lazy to figure out a lot of settings, but kind of want something now with a bit of zoom., but having a hard time deciding between the Panosonic or Olympus.

i don't think anybody has laser sighting other than sony

nah, my old canon s10 has it -- don't even use the lcd no more, just shine the red dot and shasshin
but it looks like this model doesn't have it
panasonic's consumer warranty program used to be good? wonder if it still is...

Friends and Family Flyer says no other coupons will be accepted.

You can also get a free after rebate Epson 825 printer on sunday IF you buy the panasonic camera on saturday.

Details are in the newest OMAX Flyer.

Don't forget the free 128MB SD card.
