I picked up an older version of this player while I was in Taiwan. It works ok, but the sound quality even for audio cd's isn't as good as my cd-only player. Also, vcds I tried on the player skipped more often than on my dvd player. It also drains batteries like crazy. Other than that it works good.

Looks cool and you can't beat the price if you are into VCD's and portability. Here is an ebay auction with more pictures and info: LINK It looks like the FM radio claim is false. At that pricepoint I would worry about sound and build quality.

Sorta off topic: Archos is coming out with a 10GB portable MP3 player that will also record movies in divx format. You can use it as a digital camera, vcr, and/or digital camcorder. It will also have a small screen to view the pictures, like the screen on a digital camera. It's supposed to come out in the next month or so. Check it out: Archos JBMM

I had a version 2.0 one from another company about one month ago for 139.99 (damn!). It works great so far. As to the voice quality, I can't see any difference with my old sony. Rechargeable batteries works about 14 hours for just mp3 or CDs playing; VCD playing quality depends on Disk surface quality. Too much scratchs will result in "skips', but a legal copy of VCD output great motion. 74 bucks is a steal. I always plug AC adaptor if playing VCD or the battery will be out soon.

I have received my mp3 player today. After 2 hours research, I found it has more features than I thought. like supporting multi-folders songs search, playing CD-Rs/CD-RWs, east out-put to my TV . the only minor is that it does not supports mp3 ID3 tag, and Random mode must be re-activated after power-off , but for $74 what else you want?

By the way, the quality of pictures is good.

Anyone had any experience with PC Alliance? I'm thinking about taking the leap and getting this.

This sounds like a great product for a great price. To those who have already purchased one of these does it come with the "6 function inline remote control and FM stereo radio". Egoman's webpage lists these as options. Also, does it play WMA files? That is also listed as an option at egoman's webpage

Does something like this play sound without using the earpiece/headphones? I'd like to buy this for my wife for when she takes the baby for a stroll but he loves the music too so they'd both need to hear. Built in speaker or anything?? Thanks.

Can anyone confirm if this has FM tuner function? I am ready to buy this, but I want to make sure that it has an FM tuner first. Please let me know. Thanks,

I think you should first transfer Divx to avi, and then use nero to burn it to VCD.

Gonna take you 3-4 CD unless you don't care about the picture quality.

No, it won't take 3-4 Cds for a movie.
a 74 minute CD plays 74 minutes of video and an 80 minute cd plays 80 minutes of video.

so, you're looking at most 2 CDs per movie.

VCD quality isn't all that great, but I'd only use the video for this in a car. at home, i'll stick with my DVD player.
